I'm back from backpacking trip! 5 Months, 1 Week ago

I have tales to tell! Basically the Sierra's threw the worst weather in any September that any one can remember at us. At one point we got 3" of pea sized hail in 20 minutes, it came down so hard it stripped the vegetation right off of the plants! Rain, hail along with daily thunder and lightening enlivened our trip. At one point we were flat on our faces in an area that was high with nothing taller than me around with lightening banging all around.

To add to the fun my hiking buddy is from south of Tampa and Hurricane Irma was closing in when we left. We called a halt to the trip at the one spot we could get out as we found out it had come through his place. We hiked 70 miles instead of 110 but had a blast. Even better he got home and the damage wasn't too bad (and his 30' boat was fine).

Picture is me showing just a bit of the great territory we covered....yes that is snow still remaining from our record setting winter......

Nice! did you go thru Hope Valley / twin lakes area? It's so beautiful up in that area with all the Aspens. My favorite riding.... hwy 88 and 4 down to Murphy's and Big Trees.
