I've used one for years; first on my Vulcan now on the Road* and I think they're great! Inexpensive, easy to install and works great. They don't hold for extended periods, due to vibration, unless you over-tighten them, then your throttle won't have free-play, but they hold long enough to give your hand a rest. Well worth the money!!

Thats the response i was hoping for. I just wanted to make sure it would give my throttle hand a break for like 10-15mins on a long trip. It will do that correct? And the instructions are pretty good to help me get it on ok? Thanks for the input.

You won't get 10-15 minutes hands off, but you will get a much more relaxed hand. It usually requires a little tweak every 40-60 seconds, as it ain't cruise control, and the ups and downs of your road will have a significant effect on overall speed. I have one, just for the rest, like you said.

Maybe I am just an idiot, but I can't figure the freaking thing out. I am sure where it goes, but how do you get the grip out to place the vista cruise?

Rockman,
You don't have to remove the grip to install the Vista Cruise. With the Universal Vista Cruise there are 2 or 3 different size/thickness of rubber spacers that fit inside the ring that goes around the throttle grip. Figure out which one you need (I believe it'll be the thinner of the 2 for our grips), slide the ring over the throttle grip then fit the rubber spacer inside the ring and tighten the small set screws in the ring. I'm writing from memory, not actually looking at the bike, so if I've left something out, I apologize. Hope this has helped.

Aaron

The one that I have is somewhat different. It goes between the grip and the switch housing. And compresses on the bar to keep the throttle from moving. I did have the one you are describing on my vstar 1100. I liked that one, but the one I have now was free!!!

I had the VistaCruise on my VStar, and now have it on my Roadstar. Since we can't have actual cruise control, this is the next best thing.
Since most of my riding is out here in the flat country, I leave town, set it, and don't touch it until the next town. If you get into hilly country, it doesn't react to hills and will slow down, but just a little pressure on the throttle makes up for this.
For the price it is well worth the money to me.
