I'm running the Mobil 1 V-Twin oil in my roadie, mainly because I run Mobil 1 in all of my vehicles and have for years.
The roadie only has 2000 miles since i switched over to Mobil 1 V-Twin and really haven't noticed any change from the Yamaha oil the dealer installed.

Alright, An oil post (been a couple weeks). I've got 4 quarts of mobil 1 full syn. and a filter just waiting for me to get around to. In this neck of the woods it's 8 bucks and change a quart at both autozone and wally world.BB

StarMyram:

Go with the Mobil 1 V-Twin 20W50. It's JASO MA certified and has very good numbers in all the vital areas:

Viscosity Index 150
Flash Point 518 degrees F
Pour Point -60 degrees F
% Ash 1
% Zinc NA

Check out page 24:

http://www.amsoil.com/lit/g2156.pdf

In the study, AMSOIL came out #1, but I'd buy Mobil 1 because the numbers are very close and Mobil 1 is > $1 per quart cheaper.

Good luck!

I have been using mobil 1, but will be switching back to AMSoil. Just feel that it is a better oil overall. I am sure that others will disagree, which is fine. Just my opinion.

Any synthetic motor oil in the recommended viscosity range is going to provide adequate protection for our engines, especially if changed, along with the filter, within the regular service intervals.

Whether one oil is superior to another is arguable. It all boils down to economics and personal preference.

Yup. It's all personal preference and economics ...and convenience.
Mobil 1 V-Twin is readily available to me here.
I installed the Mobil 1 20W50 V-Twin oil and a NAPA GOLD 1358 oil filter and had a nice 200 mile ride today. The engine if nice and quiet and smooth, even after the long hard run in the heat. It shifts a little nicer too, I think.
I've never heard this engine so quiet! Not even any valvetrain noise whatsoever.
I think Mobil's 20W50 V-Twin oil is wonderful stuff! I think I'm going to stick with it now.

Okay, this morning it was only one degree above freezing, and I decided to ride the 30 miles in to work! (afternoon high of 17 would be worth the COLD ride in the morning ?)
The 20w50 must have been a little thick this morning at freezing temperature. The Roadie fired right up, but it cranked a little slower on it's tiny starter than usual.
Other than that, the Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w50 has been performing well for me!

I went on my lunch break to pick up 4 quarts of Mobil 1 V-Twin 20-50 oil and a filter. Autozone only had 3 quarts, which was the fist place I stopped, so I didn't purchase the 3 quarts. I go to O Rileys , and Advance no luck so I stopped at a Artic Cat dealer because it was on my way. They had 1 quart left, and it was $11.95. I didn't price the 3 at auto zone but went back to get the them, $7.99 a quart.

I can't believe the price difference from a auto parts store and a motorcycle dealer. A 50% difference in price on a quart of oil come on....
