Best way to spend a sunday 2 Years, 8 Months ago
I get a phone call around 10:45 am sunday morning, it is my son Daniel and he wants to know if we want to join the group he rides with for a cruise down hwy 36 to 3 to 299. He and the group were at the beginning of the highway, so we figured we would have enough time to gear up and roll out and be at the dinsmore store by the time they all showed up.

We did just that, and we arrived at the store just as Todd and his girlfriend pulled in, Todd rides REALLY fast on that crotch rocket of his with his GF on the back, and always arrives first before anyone.

There were a lot of Law Enforcement out on the road that day, I am wondering if they were looking for someone specific because there were 2 K-9 units as well as highway patrol, state troopers and sheriff.

One of the K-9 units was driving ahead of us, I had everyone lined out behind me, so I was the one right behind him, and suddenly about half a bag of weed, (really good bud by the whiff I got of it as it hit the ground and exploded open lol) came flying out of the window of the officer's suv.

My immediate thought was 'Bait.. hmm ain't fallin' for it' and I just keep right on riding on, and everyone else in the group followed suit. The K-9 unit pulled over and we all rolled past and on up the hill.
We stopped at the top of the grade to let everyone catch up, and laughed about the bag of weed in the road, when the K-9 unit goes barreling past, I waved to them as they went by and smiled. They went up the road a ways, turnd around and cruised on back past us, but we were stopped, and obviously had water bottles out and a couple folks were taking pix.
The K-9 SUV came back by again, then went back in the other direction and then finally went on ahead of us and hadn't come back again by the time we all geared up and rolled out again.

I guess he decided he would go pick on someone else

So we tootled on, the 'fast crowd' (Toby, Ron, Daniel and Todd) all zipped past me, Mike, the fella on the goldwing, and the gal on the harley stayed behind me.

The fast crowd must have really been cooking because we didn't catch up with them again til they stopped to wait for us at the hwy 3 turn off lol
I was a little concerned because it appeared LE was cruisin looking for people to pull over, as evidenced by the same K-9 unit having pulled over an SUV pulling a trailer up the road from where we had stopped to rest. I was told later that the entire crew of twistosterone driven fellas had zipped past him doing about 90 lol but he had just pulled that guy over and couldn't very well jump back in his truck and pursue...
Toby and the rest got a very dirty look from that officer...

After that, Daniel, and Toby, as well as Mike and the goldwing and harley stuck with me, and Ron and Todd went on ahead. Mike told me he really liked following me, I set a good pace, and my line was easy to follow and I wasn't too slow or too fast.

We stopped in Weaverville and had pizza and hot wings, and then the rest of the group continued on down 299, and Toby and I turned around and went on home. It was a good ride, we stopped in at the Ruth store, and found out that we had been missed. Seems the folks there had gotten used to seeing us a few times a month and missed the fact that we hadn't been back for the last 8 months or so.
here is a link to some pics. One of these days I may even be able to get video of some of the roads we ride. That 7$ phone mount I got from Banggood.com works really well.

The same here. Cops all over. I don't know what they were looking for but they left us alone. Bag of weed out the window. That's new.. Now he won't have any to smoke... Glad you had a nice day. So did we...
