In answer to Assocracer... yes, wrecked my bike on may 31st... there is a thread about it kicking around here somewhere...

Update on my progress: OW OW OW OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *&%#%$#@!@#$#@!!!

My GP prescribed me morphine, because the pain in my left hand is intolerable.
So I am on 15mg morphine every 12 hours, with a norco 5-325 chaser every 4 to 6 hours as needed for 'break through' pain relief.
So grateful for my Doc squeezing me into her schedule yesterday, and believing me when I told her how bad it hurt. "What would you say your pain level is on a scale of 1 to 10?" "15!!!"

I have a feeling the next 7 days will be spent predominantly sleeping.

Still using my bike's levers for therapy tho lol
also, my sissybar bag got here today, so I spent an hour contentedly affixing it to my luggage rack, it took that long because between both hands I have 2 working thumbs, and about 3 fingers lol

Toby has been on around the clock duty, with ice pack changing, bathroom helping, etc. when I get too weepy because I can't do anything for myself and it hurts, he helps me out to the shed so I can pet my bike...

my right wrist feels great, I have been making the fist, stretching etc, and of course playing with my brake lever.

next thursday I go down again, hopefully for final pin removal.

I appreciate all of the encouragement. it REALLY helps keep me cheered up.
*HUGS* to you all =)

Keep moving forward.

Many moons ago I flew all the way over the back of a pickup that turned left in front of me. Lots of people said I would never ride again until my brother in law got his 70s model Honda CB350 close enough to the front of the house where I could hobble up to it on my crutches and take off for an hour or two

There have been thousands (lots and lots of thousands) of miles on dirt bikes since that day. Probably 60,000 street miles since then.

Look out over the bars and keep going.

Loren, will the screw that had the head break off eventually be removed?

I don't think so, if there was a way to remove it, and start over without further damaging my finger, he would have done that and put a new screw in.

I think he managed to get it mostly where he wanted it before it broke. The screw is supposed to keep the end of my finger rigid while it heals and 'fuses'. The extra pin that is sticking out of my finger, keeping things in place (I hope) should come out tho.

I am glad I can pull my clutch with 3 fingers
Just looking forward to less pain, and more progress.
Ribs are doing very well, right hand and wrist also doing well.

New handlebars and grips arriving for my bike tomorrow. SSCustom Cycle's bagger bars, which brings the 1300's grips back and closer together for short folks, without changing the stock lines and cables.

Re:Progress report =) [Update 08/25/2017] 6 Months ago
Well the splint is off, and I am back in a wrist brace. This is my first day of actually using my right hand to do things. It's going to be a long road, up/down movement we take for granted is almost nonexistent.
No side to side movement at all. I am working on being able to form a fist, slow going, and being able to spread my hand wide as well.

It all hurts, a LOT.

However, Toby got my new girl out of the shed this morning, and I sat on her while she was warming up. The new bars I got for her put the grips at a more north/south angle, rather then east/west like the roadstar bars and toby's stryker.
This actually WORKS for my damaged hand. It means I don't have to be able to bend my hand up and down to twist the throttle. As long as I can turn my arm, I can crack the throttle. I have a nice throttle boss on the new grips as well, and I can adjust it so that at rest, the boss supports my palm and thumb area, and I can just turn my arm/hand and operate the throttle.

It works pretty well. Right now, everything is adjusted for Toby's comfort. It will be a bit longer before I have the strength to get the bike off the kick stand. But I can squeeze the levers, and twist the throttle, so progess has been made.

My left index finger still hurts like blue blazes. I was put on a course of antibiotics, it seems the finger didn't appreciated being tortured, and because of the pin sticking out of it, got infected.
pin has to stay in the finger for 5 more weeks.

I will be much happier when that part of all this is done with. Getting sick of pain pills, antibiotics, more pain pills, feeling dizzy when I lay down, not being able to stand up for more then 15 minutes at a time, and being exhausted just from wiping both bikes down.

In other news, our neighbor had told us a couple weeks ago about her friend's pug having puppies. Seems they didn't get her neutered before their rat terrier had his way with her lol. So I said "oh sounds cute" and promptly forgot about it.
Well tuesday afternoon, Jenny shows up and has a little 4 lb package of adorable-ness. We named him Machaca, (spanish for shredded beef lol) and got him started on his vax etc.

This time Toby has to do most of the parenting, because my hands aren't fully healed yet. He is really cute with the puppy tho lol, specially when the little bugger acts just like he would.

I think Toby wants to take me for a little ride, so I will stop whining now and start thinking about clothes lol
will work on getting a couple pix up of the puppy and the new handlebars on my ride =)
