Damn and blast. Oh, well. It was cheap, live and learn.

I did ask them if there was a good tire for gravel, they laughed at me.

Please don't use the "D" word on this forum! Like it says at the top of this page...you CAN do it. Start with simple things like fluid changes and work your way up. Lots of advice for free on this forum.

Check your tire pressure (40 rear 38 front) and CHECK THE TIRE WEAR. If the tire is over 7 years old, it's junk. If it's AT the wear bars, it's junk. If there are anycracks in the sidewall, it's junk. If it's a Dunlop 404 it's junk. If it's an original fitment ANYTHING it's junk.

Hey JD, have you always run your tires at those pressures? I know my Manual says 36 front, 36 rear unless two up, then 40. I'm tired of changing the tire pressure every Saturday morning for the weekend rides with the wife, then back to 36 on Sunday night for a week of commuting. The short straight valve stems on my tubes were a real PITA to air up and air down, so when I put new tires on yesterday, I put new tubes with 90* stems on them........ nice! Do you get even wear patterns on your tread with pressures like that?

ive run 40 psi rear and 38 psi front 1 up or 2 up for 12k miles and on 2nd set of tire with plenty tread left on michelin commander IIs. before i did the 36 psi, and tires wore down quicker for sure.

A helpful hint I found out about today: The Right side cover has a screw in it to hold it on. Take off the Left side cover and use a flashlight to see the screw. Good luck getting it back in,...

Not a bad idea to pull the tank and check the intake manifold for cracks.

I used some wire trace from the fishing box that would never see a fish near it and the crimps and when done it looks like this, makes it easy to remove the seat if the key won't

Did the same, but used a rubber coated copper romex wire (the kind for wiring up your house).

It's been years since I used the key to unlock the seat! Thanks to this modification.
