A Social Experiment of sorts! 1 Year, 1 Month ago
This is prompted by a current thread from Shores inquiring about Doc-V not being around lately.

I remember years back the first time I became aware of a member inquiring about another member not being around lately, and I thought that was cool that someone would be that concerned.

It also made me think how long I would have to "be gone" before it was noticed. Granted, daily participants would be noticed in a very short time, but I'm not one of those.

So am I the only one who has thought about this? And no I am not feeling insecure about myself lately

How about for you? How long do you think it would take for us to inquire about your absence?

For me I would guess several months.....I mean several!

Disclaimer: This is for light hearted curiosity purposes only. It's already understood that some people can go away and others would be glad they did.

Don't forget brother, it's not just a matter of how long someone would have to not posting before the crew noticed his absence, but also how long he would have to be MIA before someone gave a crap and actually brought it up, lol! In my case, quite while! And like you, I'm not feeling insecure about myself either, just keepin' it real and trying to not overestimate my importance value in the world.......

lot's of times it is noticed that people have not been on here for a while and not mentioned. For example I have not seen Dchoppers on here for a while.

If it was me, I would guess it would be until someone asked something about a Harley. Them someone would say "I bet Cike knows" and 20 people would say "Who is Cike" and the person would say "A member that used to be on here a year or 2 ago... I wonder whatever happened to him anyway"

It's funny when I do a search on the forum I find entries from 7 years ago or longer and none of them are from people still on here many times. I guess lime everything else people just move on to other things and we never find out why. I dropped out of forums for other bike when I sd them and never really thought about notifYing the members about my departure. Since this bike is most likely the one that will be with me till I or it dies I will be a lifer. So I could be here for the next 20 years or until the forum dies.

I took about a month off once and when I returned I found threads inquiring about my absence. So, while some would love nothing more that to see me go, there are others who would miss me. Stocked is a member not heard from in awhile. Although I never met him in person, he is / was the RSC member who lives closest to me.

And I regretted starting that thread!
