Definition of Stealership 4 Years, 7 Months ago

I really hate to tell this story because it makes me feel like an idiot, but here goes…I purchased my R* new in 2007. I had the dealer install V&H Longshots, BAK and re-jet the carb for the mods. I have rode the bike 80,000 miles with 6 trips across the country with no apparent issues in the way it ran. Well two weeks ago my fuel pump crashed and after reading about Pumpless on here I decided to give it a try. So I pulled the carb to install the Grizzly valve and when I opened it up I was pissed. What I found was stock Main jet and stock Pilot. All the Stealership did was change the needle with the clip on the 5th groove and adjust the PMS. After throwing a little fit I changed the Main to a DJ175 and the Pilot to a 37.5, moved the clip on the needle to the 3rd clip with the PMS 2-¾ out. Wow what a difference it made. I didn’t realize the beast was so stout. I wish I would have found you guys 5 years ago.

I installed the baron's jet kit about 10yrs ago..have aftermarket pipes and filter.... I can't remember if i replaced the jets you mentioned or not... How would i know if maybe mine could benefit or need the same thing yours did? Mine seems to run fine now...but if u say u went 80,000 miles and didn't know...maybe me too.

One thing I've come to realize since being a member here is, the depth of knowledge on absolutely every detail of these bikes make it very hard to trust anyone else to get it right. Even a top notch dealership can only be trained so much on all the various brands and models they take in. I appreciate all you guys who give and share so much of your knowledge and experiences.
