I'm thinking you have to keep one of them.

The money you get for either won't make a difference,
and while going through this the "wind therapy" the bike has to offer is worth more than the cash you'll get for it.

Well said! When I got the Road Star my wife started to mention how my personality started to change for the better. I started getting out of the house more. I stopped taking nonsense from customers and charged more on weekends due to the calls taking away from my riding time. Happy to go to work when I used the bike especially out of town calls.

I drank next to no beer last summer because every hot and free day I would ride verses having beer. When I get home too tired to have a beer.... sigh. Valued free time, lost weight and became more assertive in business matters as I needed money towards bling for the bike.

If the bike was a pill, it would be like riding a giant Prozac with no side effects. The bike brought a different type of happiness and relief from the daily overload of excessive BS and super stress the business world poops on you. It is the ultimate de-pooper.

Went to stress therapy 2 years ago and the bike always worked better than any beer, pill or doctor's advice. It took me to places I would never have the time to go, and learned skills more fun and challenging than any video game I ever played.

I would rather ride than go to music jams. I would rather ride than eat. I would rather ride than drink. Had a riding pal and asked to go riding. We rode to Macdonalds because the sissy was hungry. He had to have something to eat because his little tummy was rumbling. Ruined a beautiful sunny day that could have been a great ride and traded it for a happy meal that you can get any day of the week. After the eats he had to go because it wasn't warm enough. I never rode with that guy again.

Woops.. off on a tangent..heh. The bike is more than a bike. It is a stress reliever and adventure machine on 2 wheels. If there is a will there is a way. If it means being humbled a bit by riding a burger bike to work so be it. I am not going to wear a silly costume to go with a goofy theme. Like a helmet in the shape of a cow's head with a big smile and a logo saying.. a Burger a Day Keeps the Hunger Away.

Seriously, When I did service calls off the bike the customers seemed to enjoy looking at the bike and thought it was neat to get a small discount since I saved money on gas and passed on the savings.

Come to think of it, I could start a company called "Mobile Repairs on 2 Wheels". Outfit the bike with tools like I planned, logo up the hard bags. Sell advertising as per the restaurants' name on the bike somewhere. Ace Burger would love to have their logo on the gas tank. Those guys are into bikes.

Remember the oscar mayer wiener truck? I could have the Ace Burger bike. I got a pal that is a signmaker that could do a great job lettering up the bike. They could add a "Bro Burger" to the menu. Ace Burger has a nice logo that would look great on a bike https://twitter.com/aceburgerco Scroll 14 pictures down to see the entire logo.

The more I think of it, this financial setback may not be as bad as I thought. In the end will have less stress and opportunities to put away funds for retirement.

I think I am going to get into advertising via mobile repairs and gear up a burger bike I need for the new business. A broiled biker burger to perfection with a beer.

Sounds like you answered your own question! See how helpful it is to talk it out with a few friends!!
Glad we could help you!!!!

Most guys would say "It's just a bike, get over it". But not here, where riding is a way of life, and we know what the Road Star is outside of perceived monetary value. Writing out a post and reading advice and comments are supplying me with options, ideas, and encouragement.

I came across this bit of useful information,

" If you’d rather not sell your assets, you will be expected to pay your trustee the amount that would have been given to your creditors had the items been sold. Most people cannot afford to pay the amounts necessary to keep their items." from https://www.mymoneycoach.ca/blog/cant-file-for-bankruptcy-canada-need-alternatives.html

So, what I have to do now is have the bikes appraised and pay the trustee that amount. I have some good customers that owe me. So I can get funds from uncollected invoices. Since one bike has a bad clutch, and the other has been altered via modifications, resale value will be hindered.

The bikes are not made anymore, and the newest is 12 years old. I'll sell the 06 and fund the 03. I would guess that entails a 3k value that is attainable for the 03.

I think the laws are made to keep the abusers of the system accountable. If I had a 15k Harley or Indian, those type of assets would rightfully be sold. I am a knuckle dragging grunt that trusted the wrong people who's handshakes were worthless. A trusting fool who went from musician to businessman that lacks a lot of common sense. But I am learning as I stumble through life. By the time I figure things out I will be able to retire 5 years after I die. I can figure out how complex tunes are played for the drums but cannot balance a checkbook.

Regardless of all that, at least I have the comfort of airing my laundry among those who understand life's stresses and getting support from my Road Star brothers.

For that, I thank you and the operators of this forum.

Don’t some insurances pay for Viagra? Cycle riding gives me a woody, so would they at least pay for my gas and oil?
