Thanks to all the thousands/millions who have served through tour history. So proud of my dad in WWII. I remember watching live on TV in 1969, my birthdate was the 338th drawn. I was prepared to go to Vietnam, but the lottery allowed me to go to college. I often wonder what a different person I would be had I gone to Vietnam. A better one, I’m sure.

You're 18 years old and you haven't got a clue in the world what direction your life is going to take. That is until one fateful day when you walk through the door and the lottery is on TV and they've drawn the last numbers for the draft that year. Imagine the shock of that young man when he realizes he won!! Yep, your lottery number is 1! Congratulations, your life is going to be different starting now. To be honest I wouldn't have changed a thing.
