Four years ago it started with an 1100 1999 V Star. Within 2 weeks of attaining motorcycle license, a 2006 Road Star. Then comes the bling. Get a tad bored with the power so I cop another Road Star, a 108cc 2003, 2 springs ago. Store the bike and finally insure it in August and been riding that a lot.

Now I am eyeballing a 2014 Indian but not interested in borrowing funds for the bike, so that ain't gonna happen until I save up for it. Plus I do not like financing any bike, got enough dept. As I rode into the sunset earlier tonight on the 2003 I feel like a jerk for wanting another bike. I am very fortunate to end up with the Patric Racing 108cc Big Bore Road Star.

Had a fixation for a 120ci Ultima Harley Softail, then the Honda Valkyre. Then started to notice the new Indians.

Down the rabbit hole I go, where it ends nobody knows. Time for a reality check.

The plan is to do a bit of brass addon's to the 2003 and get a harder hitting retro theme for the bike. Do small stuff to it and get a nice retro look to it. Install the modded Roadking nacelle Greenmachine customized, Harley front fender, etc. etc.

With drum kits, it was the forever chasing after a different style of kit until after many years, settled for a very basic looking kit. A practical great sounding kit. Not too flashy but very functional. More concerned about the sound than the looks. Have no interest in attaining any more drum stuff.

With bikes, the fun is adding and modifying the bike, nothing drastic, just little things like headlight, fender, small engine mods. But never satisfied, like a dog chasing it's tail.

When riding down the 102 highway, dark and about 54 degrees, holding a steady MPH while passing the slower vehicles, asking myself, why more?

Got to thinking a man should have 2 bikes, one for touring, and one for short runs.

I must admit the Road Star is somewhat nimble for zipping around the city, plus hauling butt on the open road. Because the bike is so much fun, then it stands to reason, more bikes = more fun.

I think that may be off target verses, "appreciate what you have and make the best of it", versus chasing after more bikes. The question, "Where does it end?"

With drums it ended up with a small kit, but a great sounding small kit.

At this time, the bike gig is a moving target. I need a motorcycle shrink.

Another useless rant brought to you by an over worked, underpaid, knuckle-dragging stressed out blue-collar grunt.

I like short girls because they are just so damn cute. I like tall girls because I am 6'5" and I just love the long legs. I like skinny girls, and thicker girls. That's the same way that I feel about bikes. I love my Roadie for cruising but I love lighter, sportier bikes that will lift the front wheel coming out of corners. I love Gold Wings because they are so comfortable on long trips but again still seems to make you concentrate more than smaller bikes in low speed situations. In short, I sort of love them all.

These are questions that only you can answer. And who says it's suppose to end?

Motorcycling to many includes both riding them and building them. I can think of a few guys on here who it seems they get much enjoyment and fulfillment in acquiring bikes as projects and when they're done and complete they sell 'em and move on to buy another one.

I just like riding them. Different bikes for different riding enjoyments / purposes. Touring, traveling and one for around town, lightweight, zippy, etc. That's why I have two.

If I enjoyed wrenching and modding, building and customizing I might have more. So I guess what i'm saying is if you find complete enjoyment in doing both, working on and riding the two you have, then you have everything you need. But if you want more why shouldn't you have more. It doesn't mean you're not appreciative with what you have.

I am sort of the same way, went through 3 bikes before I found my roadstar. I loved my roadstar and would still be riding her if she hadn't broken her neck when we wrecked this last may.
I really loved that bike, but she wasn't the bike I wanted, she was the bike I settled for, because I couldn't get the bike I wanted in 2013.
Ironically, I am NOW riding, the bike I really wanted since yamaha first came out with them. The blue 2013 V-star 1300 deluxe.
I had a lot of fun with my roadstar, and I probably would have replaced her with another roady, however destiny served me up the vstar and it is a better match for me these days.
Those indian bikes sure do grab the eye and the ol' retro loving heartstrings though

I think it is about the adventure. Also, new acquisitions give you a dopamine hit, and modding your ride, gives you that retail therapy without a huge price tag that buying a new bike brings.
Me, I am looking forward to just riding, and riding a LOT this next season. Most of our money will be going into gas oil and tires lol

This problem rears its head for me when I am not on or even just working on the bike. When I'm riding, I never find myself wanting a different bike. I enjoy just about everything about the Road Star. But when I'm sitting in front of the computer, I often end up looking at different bikes. Wanting a Bolt, a Street Glide, a Shadow Tourer, a Concours and a Royal Enfield all at the same time is probably a good example of ADD. A little Road Star therapy and everything is okay again.

Beautiful bikes but WOW the price tag!!
