Speedometer bezel ideas... 1 Year ago
Since I am painting the tins on my ride I'm curious what others have done with the speedo bezel. The chrome isn't perfect on it, not terrible, just not great. I was thinking about painting it the same color as the tank, or maybe Black or even getting it re-chromed.

Anyone else here done something different? Pictures would be awesome of course...

Haven't done anything but several have painted or powder coated it black due to the blinding glare when it's mid day and the sun is coming over your shoulder.

Yeah that glare has caught me as well. I didn't think about powdercoat Kind of like that since it is pretty durable and would likely be pretty cheap in a basic black. I thought about the same color as the tank, but I think that would be too much. Others?

It's not a bad idea to lightly sand it and paint it a satiny, shimmery kind of matte, or semi-gloss silver.

what ever colour you are painting with, add the same pigment to some clear and paint over the chrome so it will shine through.

check about 5.30 minutes in to this.... https://youtu.be/g3YLEcf1gSU

My tri stage paint will have a tinted clear if I understand my paint guy correctly. Hmmm

Would it show the imperfections in the chrome though? I have 50k worth of wear and tear on that piece so it is not blemish and scratch free.

If its painted the same as the tank it looks real nice that way.

I'm kind of leaning this way, only seen a couple pics of this but if masterhermits idea doesn't pan out I'm thinking strongly about this one. It would for sure show it was not factory paint.

I guess I could ask who would have a blemish/scratch free (or close) dash bezel for my 1600 if I wanted to be a slut, like Shores
