fuel drip 3 Years ago

Well first had a great ride today, except when I got stopped by the CHP, I was on 140 towards Yosemite going up the mountain about 70 with no one on the rode but me, CHP was coming down and turned right around after he passed me, I went down to 55 and after 5 minutes following he hit his lights.First time I got stopped. Looked at my license and told me to just slow it down.So get to Marpiosa and eat lunch. Go out and the bike won't start. Hense it's now flooded. Get it started and go about 8 miles and stop and see fuel dripping behind the back side of the air cleaner. Pull off the cleaner and nothing. All the fuel lines are dry. once I had the cleaner off it stops dripping.Put it back on and drive home some 50 miles and get home and no dripping at all.The cleaner had no gas in it just a little oil. Any thoughts? Ken

You might have had a small pc of dirt or crud of some sort temporarily keeping the float needle from closing. I would just keep a watch on it and wouldn't get real excited about it if the leak has stopped. tight.

You had what is known as Carb Puke. Turn the gas off next time, about 15 seconds before turning the switch off, when you stop. Don't forget to turn it back on.

+1. .
Had the same thing happened to me a couple of weekends ago in Sonora. It's the first time it's happened to me since I vented the gas cap. Kind of messy and frustrating but it's not that big of a deal. And as far as getting pulled over by the CHP on highway 140, yeah, that's a real tough spot for cops. Especially in Cathey's Valley. I've been pulled over more than once there for sure. They must be able to fund their entire year's budget just off of tourists going to Yosemite, lol!

Yes I had the same thing happen when I met MidnightJockey in Jamestown. I agree with turning the petcock off a little before you shut down your bike. Worked for me.
