lost my virginity 3 Years, 4 Months ago

Started out on a ride with my wife, weather good 71 and sunny. Wearing a short sleeve and long sleeve shirt.Rode into the sierra navada mountains about 30 miles, had lunch then going north got some ugly clouds and temp. drop headed down into the valley and boom starts raining hard and I'm on a 2 lane country rode and that is the first time in 6 years that I got caught in the rain.Never happened before.A little scared because I don't know if my tires will hold, skidding, etc.Well made it 45 miles home without any problems other than I couldn't see.Of course at my house it's dry as a bone.I know all you vets have done this many times but it was my first time. Ken
p.s. a black bike with rain and road dirt don't mix

This is my first Roadie and we don't see that stuff you call rain here
But when I lived in Chicago, it sucked riding in the rain. Probably because at that point in my life I only rode crotch rockets. You know where the water goes on a crotch rocket? Straight to your crotch! Wet cold balls you have to choke on till you get home

Thought this was gonna be about dropping bike or a wreck - so RAIN - easier topic IMO. I don't purposely set out to ride it, but if the afternoon forecast gets to 40% or more I usually drive to work to avoid getting wet on the way home. But I've been in rain plenty, I just try to leave extra distance behind vehicles and go slow in the turns. I started using goggles this yr and if I don't have the windshield on (use in colder weather) the goggles really help w/vision in the rain. Of course if the rain is to hard to see and ride safely it's best to wait it out until it lightens up or stops. (better save than in the ditch)

that is the first time in 6 years that I got caught in the rain
Man I wish I had that kinda luck. When I bought my Roadie I rode it home from Houma, LA to Mansfield, TX (about 600 miles) and spent nearly 400 of it riding through a torrential downpour with no rain gear. I've been caught in the rain about 6 times in the last year too, and all of them with no rain gear.
And it's just as bad for us guys who own the lighter color bikes too, trust me...
Now excuse me while I go find my FroggToggs to put in my saddlebags now

Hell, I got caught in the rain last week twice in 4 days. Got rained on Monday, washed the bike before I took her out again Thursday and got rained on again. Hoping to stay dry when I take her out today.

It's been raining for the last 2 weeks here. If you don't ride in the rain you don't get to ride much around here.

I set out in the rain intentionally only once - the very first "Annual Midwest Meet & Greet" in Osage, MO......definitely worth it, though.
I'll ride if the chances are 30% or less.
I've been "caught" in the rain so many times I can't count, but, hey, I'm riding

I feel your pain Ken. The wife and I went to Fresno a few weekends ago for a Renegade Classics sale and on the way home it started dumping. We swung into the Chukchansi casino, (it was still open then, lol), and waited it out. Won $40 and headed home but the damage was done....... 3 hours later, the black bike was clean again. We've been a little spoiled with this drought here being able to get so many miles in, but I'm looking forward to some serious rain this winter.
