AIS & Calif. emissions 4 Years, 8 Months ago
I have an 07 Midnight stock airbox with K&N filter and I just recieved my block off kit from Barons for my AIS. My questions is should I take off the Calif. emissions bull shit too?? Is there anything I need to complete the job? Any caps, plugs, etc? Thanks, Ken

I'm not positive if it's LEGAL to remove the charcoal cansister in Kalifornia, or if it was just required on NEW vehicles sold in the state. I would get a definitive answer before I just started ripping it off there. Would be a pain to dig up if you chunked it and found out you had to have it.
Just 2 cents from a guy that lives in another state! I know Kalifornia is all jacked up on some stuff.

I know they don't check it after you registered the first time.I would keep all the parts just in case and no it's not legal but the heck with them. Ken

"WARNING: Federal law makes it illegal for ANYONE to tamper with, disconnect, remove or otherwise render inoperative ANY emissions-related control device."

Except me... I pulled mine...

Do you have to get "smog checked" for registration in Calif? I doubt the guy would know what he was (or wasn't) looking at.

I thought they were smog checking 2008 and up out there, but like I said, I've only been a visitor in that freaky world, and read a lot in bike mags about their predisposition for writing dumbass laws that do not make life the least bit better for the populace.

No they don't do smog checks here. Only the first time you register not after that. Ken
