Sounds to me like the exhaust is not tuned to your engine.

I was going to say, 55 in 2nd feels a little busy on mine, but I don't even hit 4th on the on-ramp til 70+! Strum that thing like a guit-fiddle, and 55 in 4th will feel fine.

I reported elsewhere on my last trip I caught myself in 4th at 70 several times. Purring like a kitten. And I was like I have another gear here! I have a Car Tire too though remember that. The speedo on mine is actually right on. Stock it runs 5 MPH faster than what you are doing.

Mine does not sound right unless I am going 70 or a little more.

at 55 in 5th it's almost lugging the engine.almost.i stay in 4th at 55 and don't go to 5th until 65-70 that's while accelerating.heck you can go to 80 in 3rd. I think our engines tolerate a lot without any problems. Ken

I have a 09. I recently put on a 2-1 exhaust and K&N air filter. I find that now I can go faster in all gears especially in 4th. I feel like it was being restricted when it was stock.

I agree, 55 in 5th is lugging the engine. My 08 R* FI likes to be AT LEAST 60 MPH before shifting into 5th, and that's cutting it close.
My "VOS" loves 65 to 70 in 5th.

I've owned her for 30 days today and have racked up 3046 miles, all in Central Kansas!!
