Considering a K&N; replacement air filter 4 Years, 6 Months ago
During this winters lay-up I'm considering replacing the OEM filter with a K&N.

Has anyone drilled their backing plate to increase flow into the airbox/filter?

All replies are appreciated. Thanx

The gentleman I bought my 'Star from did install a K&N filter...threw in a new cleaning kit etc...but I will say this...be prepared to see your gas go fast when you get on it. I had to throttle up to pass a semi (damn things make me nervous) and you could actually see the needle go down...

Got 'em in my stock box's and drilled a 1 1/2" hole above the stock air intake and pulled the rubber boot out also.

Please explain...I actually got better gas mileage when I put mine in and also seemed to get better throttle response. Did your gas mileage actually go down?

^^^^^^^^ like he did.

Move your crankcase vent like this, and plug the hole in the filter when you do the swap.

You'd be right where I am. I used the barons kit, and ordered a different pilot. See my profile

You might be able to get a long without jetting, but hey! reap the benefits. If your still stock, your in for a nice surprise.
