#938060 Speedfreek (User) Fresh Boarder Posts: 61 Flooding after hard rides only? 2 Years, 2 Months ago   04 RS 1700... So I've noticed that ONLY after riding 70+mph for several miles like on the interstate then I pull over somewhere and shut it off and let it sit for 20-30min it will have flooded. When I sit on the bike and tilt it off the kickstand, gas will pour out from carb or somewhere on right side and when I go to crank it over it will take waay too long to crank and when it finally does fire up, it will spit fuel from the exhaust. It only does this after hard riding. Engine heat is cooking, expanding / evaporating fuel from bowl and feed line. Many ways to get around it. Aggravated by ethanol. The fuel between the pump and the needle and seat, expands from the heat when the bike stops moving, and forces past the needle and seat, and floods the bowl. I have the same problem.I turn off the petcock for about 30 seconds and that takes care of it.Ken   Logged       The administrator has disabled public write access. #938123 brianmac (User) Platinum Boarder Posts: 2180 Re:Flooding after hard rides only? 2 Years, 2 Months ago   call me different, but it may be your jetting /air filter/exhaust/float level combination running to lean and making it run too hot, which will get the carb real hot and puke, AND , tell us when was the last time the carb was "gone over", or it could be dirt in your needle and seat inlet valve in the carb, or it could be float level. when the bike is hot on a 70 degree day, you should be able to touch the barrels without burning your palm of your hand for a mili-second, not a real hi tech deal here. here is a question for all WHEN IS THE LAST TIME YOU DRAINED YOUR FUEL TANK AND LET IT DRY IN THE SUN.?   Logged     [img size=150][/img]   The administrator has disabled public write access.
