The question of the day is the wife is wanting her own ride, but she is wanting a trike, so my question is has anyone built a trike? What kit is the best to get? How hard are they to build

I have a Champion kit for my 07 R*.I don't know if they sale them anymore however there are many companies that sale kits. I would get one with independent suspension. Mine is a straight axle and is a little bouncy on some of the roads.If you can wrench your bike then you can build a kit.Mine came with step by step directions. Good luck, Ken

Avoid the "training wheel" style trike kit that retains the stock rear wheel. Poor quality, ill handling design that will eat the rear tire off in nothing flat. Although much cheaper and easier to install than a "true" trike kit, this is the epitome of "you get what you pay for".

That's a nice looking trike. If the day comes that I want or need one, it would be like yours.

I'm building either a trike or sidecar to put on one of mine, my father is 84 and always rode with us boys, he is wanting to do one last short ride with us so it's on! I'm going to make it happen, I have a side car body and most of the parts to go either way.

Is that something you've heard or personally experience. Most of the Voyager owners I've spoken to, really like their kits. BTW a "Voyager Kit" is about 6000.00 so its not cheap. Kai

When those first came out, I was working at a shop, Armadillo Bike & Chrome in Killeen, Texas. We specialized in H-D and Goldwings. A good customer of ours had just bought a new 1500 'wing and wanted to trike it. Decided on the one like the Voyager. We put it on for him, and in 3000 miles the back tire was wasted. He was never comfortable with the handling either, and we ended up going with a Champion true trike conversion. I don't know if it was an actual Voyager or one like it, it was a long time ago, but that thing got shoved out into the bullpen, hell, it may still be sitting there. The Voyager kit may be $6K now, but just price the Champion kit! And as far as the Voyager owners you know saying they like theirs, well, you know, sometimes it's hard for folks to admit they made a big mistake, so they just eat it and smile. Millions of H-D riders do it all the time.

what was the biggest challenge that you had on your trike. I have always wrenched on my hotrods, but Trigger is my first bike that I have really wrenched on and with the folks on here helping I have accomplished some decent mods

Look into the Richland trike. Independent suspension. Added mine one year ago. 12,000 miles later and I'm well satisfied. only negative is posers calling it "training wheels." Rear tires still last over 10,000 miles. Check out the website. Under $4000.
