R* engine bogging down 7 Months, 1 Week ago
Hi all.I'm a newbie to this forum and this is my first post.My 2003 R* has just turned 100,000 kilometers and is still running fine.Few mods made on bike Cobra longshots,k&n air filter and jetting.I've also removed the AIS system.Anyway this has happened a couple of times under wide open throttle the engine has just quit revving. Not close to rev limiter.Just bogged down.Any ideas as to what might be the cause?

Hi, and from San Diego, CA.

Sounds like you are running out of fuel in the bowl.

Check that you have a clean fuel filter (could reduce fuel flow to the bowl)

May have a damaged fuel pump ???

OR the float level is wrong.

Since it sounds like it's an over-time at high speed, I would guess its the fuel filter. I would try that first (less than 7 bucks)

What jetting are you running?
If you starve the bowl, it won't bog down, it'll just die, or sputter and die. At least in my experience.
Maybe a coil or plug wire arcing? There have been some issues of that happening with the metal leads on the throttle cables, by the carb.

Re:R* engine bogging down 6 Months, 4 Weeks ago
thanks to everyone for your advise.I must admit I don't know what size jetting is in carb.not stock for sure as carb was worked on in shop when I installed k&n air filter.I've removed the fuel pump as well.I should also say that bogging down occurred while riding in the mountains.I've had no issues riding at sea level.
