Best of 2016 1 Year, 2 Months ago
What's your best event from 2016? NO politics, there are plenty other threads for those.
Mine for 2016 would be my attending the Celina M&G. I was able to meet some great people, for example, DaveJ, Midwestmike, Hanks and his son, Greysnake, Ohiosteve, HotRod all the way from AZ, Catnapped and his wife, Warden, Shredbaron and his wife, and many others. Round trip was about 1600 miles for me. Watching DaveJ rejetting carbs in the hot sun with 3 upside down trash cans for a work bench was great! He really knows his carbs and was patient with all that wanted work done. He had jumper wires made up and was giving them away to all who wanted some, Thanks Dave!! The give away bike was probably one of the biggest event within an event. It filled up plenty of pages here on the RSC. Warden was busy selling parts, helping people get the ride organized etc. Thanks again Warden and all Mods for keeping this place running in 2016.
Sturgis 2016 was my next big event. Met up with Warden and rode the hills. Warden was officially baptized with heavy rain that day. Also met Crokrolyle at the campground. Round trip was about 1500 miles.
I was able to ride at least once in all twelve months again this year same as last. 12,400 miles for the year.

I hope every one has a great next year !!!

Well, I didn't have any big bike riding adventures like your.

We lost my youngest brother a year ago (12/15) and my mom this year in March.

We went to Playa del Carmen in February for our first week at our timeshare. We shared that with some friends. Toured some Mayan ruins, spent time on the beach and in the pool at the swim up bar!

In April the family gathered to celebrate my Mom's passing and my birthday. Crazy weekend that!! Lots of grandbaby time.

In July we went to Michigan to celebrate my Dad's 80th birthday. On the way up we stopped in St. Louis and saw the Arch and played tourist. Going through Illinois, we stopped in a little town and saw the world's largest golf tee, rocking chair, wind chime and wooden nickel. We had a reunion with my wife's family as well. On the way back we went through Kentucky and stopped at Mammoth Caverns and took a tour. Had a lot of fun playing hide and seek with the grand kids.

In October, we went to my nephew's wedding in Peoria, Illinois. On the way back we stopped in Springfield, Illinois and toured Lincoln's home. Spent the night in a motel on Route 66 in Springfield, Missouri. Even more grandbaby time!!

We'll be spending Christmas with the grandkids (and their parents too!) for even more grandbaby time.

All in all, a lot of good memories, a few not so good and a whole lot of fun with family.

Meeting so many fellow riders!

The ultimate ride... 8,000 miles in 30 days. I'll live that over and over in my mind for decades to come.

Too many to decide from. I suppose the first one is stopping at my local bike shop (dirt oriented, Husky dealer) to visit with the owner. He happened to have a Roadstar in there and I had to comment on it, and he mentioned it was on consignment and he really needed it to go. I looked up the info on it, which led me to here. Learned about the recall, and it wasn't done yet. Offered what I felt was a pretty low price ($2200) which was $800 under asking. I figured the owner would counter and I'd walk away. He didn't, so, totally unplanned I bought a street bike after 30-some years of riding dirt only.

Of course I didn't ask the boss, and instead took the bike (on a trailer) to the Yamaha dealer for the recall work.when they called and told me it was ready I finally had to say something. "Oh BTW, honey I bought a bike".
Yeah, that went well

Fast forward to now and I've put about 5500 miles on my Roadie, met some pretty awesome people from here, who have shown me friendship and opened their home to me. What a fantastic group of people here and I look forward to meeting many more.

The NW Starfest was so much fun I'm helping MikeyC put on the next one in Oregon this coming year and am really looking forward to it.

Huh. I guess my favorite "event" was finding the Clinic... whodathunk?

most definitely NWStarfest was my best bike event of the year...after hunting with rifle for some 47yrs, I took my first deer with a bow in the 2016 deer season so that was my best hunting event...the rest was pretty much a good year ....

Wow. That's saying something. Bow hunting is it here in MI as far as I'm concerned. Only gun hunted for a few years before I discovered bow hunting and how much better it is (simply because there are far less idiots in the woods during bow season). Still love my guns and all, but my trusty Hoyt is it for taking whitetails.

MI unfortunately has a pretty bad tradition of deer hunting. Huge here but everyone feels that they need to get "their deer" and shoots the smallest thing to walk up on them. This is a whole other forum to have this discussion on though

Jim, I loved seeing you down in the Smokey Mountain Meet. Hope you come back every year. That's my absolute favorite ride of the year and seeing guys from all over makes it even better.

Re:Best of 2016 1 Year, 2 Months ago
good idea for a thread.

My biggest highlight was defiantly getting my first Granddaughter.

my bike trip from Ohio to Arizona. Which included doing the ironbutt 1000/24

Took a bike trip to Ky, WV, Virgina area. Spent several days circling around storms that were coming in due to hurricanes. We left one town to get away before it all hit. The next morning weather channel showed that town we left the day before was about wiped out from flooding. With storms all around us, we hit almost no rain during the whole ride.

Coming around that curve in South Carolina at the M&G may not have been one of the best moments of the year, but it was defiantly one of the most unforgetable. The fact that everyone lived made it a good day in a warped sort of way though.

Got a new truck.

Sold my road king, road star, and got a Electra glide, and project road star. Bought the Electra glide the same day my Granddaughter was born. (a very good day). I do miss the road star (Misfit) that I sold though.

made it through another year with my wife still putting up with me.

For me personally, my best moment of 2016 began at 12:01 am, January 1st. Another year above ground. 16 years and 3 months ago, a doctor told me if I lost a lot of weight, and if I ate a very restricted diet, and if I exercised and quit smoking, I might have 2 or 3 years left. That was 1 October 2000, and I still have not done any of those things. And now, in a few days, I will see 2017, and that will be the best moment of that year.
