Grizzly valve install 5 Years, 1 Month ago
So I went pumpless last year, but never put the grizzly valve in until day before yesterday. Bike not getting gas now?? Before I take everyting back off I thought I'd ask. I checked, getting gas out of the tank before filter, removed gasline at the carb connection and have gas there as well, I did manage to loosen the bowl drain screw - only got a couple drips-then nothing?? I let the bike sit overnite and tried to start again after battery was charged, lots of cranking but not a hint of it trying to start. What could I have plugged or what to check when I go back in there?? I was very careful not to bend anything on the float. Thanks for the help- as always I know it's gonna be something stupid- haha

I've got one - no problems - but my initial guess is it is stuck in the closed/up position. Before I would take everything apart I'd tap lightly on the sides of the carb with the float bowl screw loose and fuel valve in reserve position. LIGHTLY tap around on the sides you can get to and see if the fuel starts flowing. If not, you'll have to tear it back down to see what's wrong.

You probably need to adjust the float level. I don't have the Grizzley valve, but I'm assuming the adjustment is similar to the regular one. Someone will be here soon to give you more info. I know there is a write up in the tech articles about adjusting the float level

It's either stuck shut, or something got dislodged between the filter and there, and is plugging up the seat, on the fuel inlet side. Have you pulled the small screen filter on the carb inlet?

Try the tapping thing mentioned above, and see if it does the trick.

Unless he changed the float level installing the new valve it shouldn't need to be adjusted any differently than what he's been running pumpless at.

Try tapping the carb wit a screwdriver handle...sometimes the float needle will get stuck in the seat.

Thanks guys, tried the tapping, still nothing. Guess I'll have to take it off and see. Float level hasn't been a problem since I was already pumpless. Will let you know what I find, might not get it apart today tho.

I don't think the Grizzly needle will fit the smaller valve without some serious force

Of course, that would explain the lack of fuel

You can remove the bowl without removing the carburetor. Did you grease the O'ring on the new seat before trying to push it into the carburetor? Is it possible that the seat isn't pushed in all the way? With the bowl off the float should move up and down freely. If it won't then something's out of adjustment, either the float is out of adjustment or the seat isn't all the way in.

Let us know what you find.
