What I am wondering is the longest time any of the group has owned a Roadie and how many miles you have on it?

I've only had mine since the middle of this last summer and have been wondering about the longevity of the bikes before they start to break down?

River, there is a long thread here somewhere that tells all that. A search would probably pull it out...

Here it is---> http://roadstarclinic.com/component/option,com_fireboard/Itemid,187/func,view/id,371514/catid,49/

Thanks Kai, read the whole thread, wow! That is an eye opener. I see you have logged a few miles too.

Is it ok to bring this back up from a couple years ago, dust it off, and keep it going?

Good idea, I enjoy these shared memories!

Had to be about '69 or '70, when I started watchin' those B grade bike movies at the drive-in... went right out and bought my first bike... a '67 Honda 90 Dream for $150. I was 15 or 16 by then, and I've never looked back. I've have owned some 13 bikes since those days!!!

1964. I was 11 yrs old & my neighbor Floyd (the older brother I never had) was teaching me to drive his Cushman Super Eagle. "Give it a little gas & ease-up off the clutch" he said. I rolled the throttle, stepped off the clutch, & stood it straight up. OH,YEAH !! That was it !

Re:When Did You Know???? 6 Years, 2 Months ago
I was born in 66 and can remember way back. My dad had an early 60s BSA and I can remember my dad giving my brother and me rides around the block. I was to small to ride on the back so my dad put me on the gas tank. I had to be no more than 2 years old. It felt as natural as drinking beer. Funny how I can remember that but I can't remember where I put my car keys.

I think it was around 1979 or 1980 me and my buddies got hung up at a creek crossing, there was five of us on our two strokes. Setting there with a smile on and waiting my turn to try and cross without dumping it in the creek or getting stuck all i could smell was everybody's golden spectro premix coming out thier exhuast (if you rode off road you know what i mean, it had a certain smell) Those were some of the best days and i knew right then and there bikes would be part of my life.
