Today was one of those rare days here on the bay, where the weather was just right. High 70's and only a moderate breeze. Usually, as the temp goes up, the hot air inland sucks all the cold air off the ocean and we get wind and the famous San Francisco fog. We have so many micro-climate that while other parts of the country say, "if you don't like the weather, wait five mins." we say, "if you don't like the weather, drive 5 miles."

..Well today was unseasonably warm and perfect conditions. It was a pleasant surprise. The weatherman didn't even predict it. Not that they're ever of any use around here.

So I took a ride around town, and drove along the beach to check out the "scenery" that the hot weather always brings out.

I stopped at my favorite, little known spot on the water, cracked a tall boy and relaxed for a while, listening to some mellower tunes from SRV and Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton and Tom Petty, some Neal Young and Eagles. Just right for the occasion.



Around 5:00 pm I figured I'd head home... but it was just so damn nice I just wanted to keep riding... so I did!

Around 7:30, I found myself back at my favorite spot with another cold tallboy and watched the sunset with San Francisco in the back ground....



Downtown SF is off to the right in this photo, behind the Military Sealift Command ships, now docked at the old Alameda Naval Air Station. For the ex-Navy among us, it's the Cape Henry and Cape Mohican. Some pretty impressive ships for military freighters. About the size of the WWII era air craft carrier, USS Hornet CV 12, they're docked across from.... If you zoom in, you can get a glimpse of the Hornet's super structure on the far right...



The sun had set further north, behind the ships, so I had to go get a better view of the city... In this photo I was at the end of the pier, between the Hornet and Cape Henry. If you zoom in, you can seen down town SF in the distance, with all 4 towers of the SF Bay Bridge lit up.



I sat and listened to my music. It was 8:00 PM and 72 degrees out with a light breeze. Perfect!

It was so nice I just didn't want to go home! ...but it was nearly a quarter to nine and I'd run out of beer.

Awesome ! I find that me and my Roadie are drawn to the water too.. I Love drivin around the Lake..Ol Lady Singin in my ear.. My wife has a beautifull voice-she used to sing acapella. Whatever that is she first started singin on the bike to TAKE HER Mind OFF OF HER BUTT HURTIN I know..she needs a Better Seat .. ! shes a trooper !

Oh ive got this favorite Spot too.. I go there and take pics of my Scoot ...ive tried 3 different cameras..one of my favorites is the camera -lookin -over the tank and bars..theres a cupple of cool trees I capture in the backround..kinda look like Palm trees.. I live in Nebraska
