Anyone have a starter for sale??? 1 Year, 10 Months ago
A neighbor not 1 mile from me rides an '01 R*. He's a local police dispatcher... 26 years old. I'd met him awhile back. Well, he just called me, said his bike wouldn't start... new battery.

I put the volt meter on the battery, the decompression solenoid clicks, and the starter solenoid clicks, but the starter does NOTHING. Checked, the power is getting to it.

We took it out, and you could smell it. We tried power directly to it, and it is very dead....

Anyone have a starter for sale?

I bought one of these from Motogirl it is a high tq starter and works great even on my big bore engine. The high tq is what I needed to spin the thing. She shipped immediately and I got it in about 3 days. Well worth the money.I just sold my take off starter to another member last week.

BR, I don't have time to rebuild someone else's starter, and it was real obvious it needed more than brushes... it wouldn't turn, and did it ever smell. That baby was cooked!

Father, I was not aware we had new ones available here, and I don't think this guy would have wanted chrome anyway.

I snagged a deal on eBay... a used '04 for $122.50 with shipping. Not bad, and they say it'll be here on Friday.

Thanks, guys.

Could have bought one from the Classifieds for $150 shipped and new. But obviously to late for that now.

Maybe he needs a new set of cables also.

.

Yeah. Might want to mention the better cables to him. High resistance wires can cause motors to fail. Just sayin
