Something is still plugged if the PMS screw doesn't have any change with adjustment.

Plugged, or open when it shouldn't be. I agree.

Are you sure you put the diaphragm spring back in it? I've had those exact same symptoms on a different bike. Starts and idles great, but runs like ass when you get past 1/4 throttle.....I was scratching my head trying to figure out where I went wrong, then saw the spring sitting on my work bench....yep, felt dumb.

Re:New owner. Wishing it was better news 10 Months ago
i have forgotten the big diagrapm carb spring myself, but spark is not spark on these beasts, under pressure its harder to generate spark. mine passed the visual spark test, but failed resistance test.
dont ask me how i know, ok, we left a plug wire off and burned a coil. do the coil resistance check or better yet, swap out if possible.

also, check that your crankcase oil is not full of unburned gasoline
also make sure the little nipple on the intake manifold isnot leaking. plug it with fuel injector tubing, and asmall bolt and seal it good hose clamp.

You and me both! If just to see if its something in my carb.

DTomlin: yes I have tried with the air cleaner on. didn't help.

Hillbilly: If it is Ill be dammed if I can figure out where. I literally took to the bare bones and verified every single hole.
Open when it shouldn't I could see.

Mpersful: lol, actually I did once but figured it out when I tested the slide before putting it in.

brianmac: The longer I listen to this thing the more I would swear theres a vacuum leak. But theres so few lines that I cant imagine I missed one. That nipple on the manifold, you say make sure its plugged with FI tubing bolt and clamp? If its the gold nipple on the half going to the rear cylinder it had a hose going to the front of the bike. And its really small you couldn't plug it without drilling it out. I am now wondering if Ive overlooked another opeing.
Heres a longer better video of the bike. Youll notice no smoke, but youll see what its doing better.

If the nipple on top of the intake manifold is not sealed(however you do it), it'll cause a major issue. It is a vacuum port. Its wide open to the inside of the manifold.

There is actually a pretty big difference between a choke, and an enricher. They both accomplish a richer starting environment, but the enricher adds to whats there, instead of subtracting, the way a choke does. Its the difference in trying to start the bike, between using a bucket of gas, and a cup.

If you're just arbitrarily setting the float, then you'll never get there. The reason it doesn't need the enricher now, may well be because you have the float set to high.

Re:New owner. Wishing it was better news 10 Months ago
on the intake manifold , there is a 1/8 inch brass nipple with like 1/4 inch or so tubing that was or is used for the AIS,(see proper AIS removal in tech section if needed. ) which most just disconnect and plug the hole with a reliable(FI fuel line) piece of tubing, a small bolt, and 2 hose clamps. the black 3/4 inch or so tubing going to the rear cylinder onb top of the head is the crankcase ventilation pipe, that is suppposed to go to the air cleaner, or some just put a small air filter on it and lay it under bottom of bike; this one should not affect running of the bike.

from the video, it sounds like one cylinder is not firing????/

The big question here is what did you change ??? if anything

Re:New owner. Wishing it was better news 10 Months ago
I supposed I should have stated more clearly this is not my first rodeo. I have had many bikes and cars and I always do my own work. I am completely clear on the difference between a true old style choke and an enricher. This is the 8th carb I've rebuilt. This is the first Roadie though and the first to stump me cold. I have not been arbitrarily setting the adjustments. I am methodically moving in millimeters with my rule scales. I am moving forward and backward. the screwdriver I am using for the PMS has an 8 sided head so I am able to twist in 1/8 turns with reasonable precision. Not to mention I have marked the screw each time I do sweeping adjustments to know if I overturned or anything else. I have adjusted it in many ways. As in like picking a combination lock, move this bit by bit, then move that bit by bit then move this a bit, and that bit by bit. and keep going until you have hit nearly every possible combination. Every move has been with purpose. I should probably have made that more clear in the beginning so yall would know I wasn't just using my wifes pink tool set and eyeballing everything thinking I'm playing mechanic.

My old Ninja was synched 4 carb and I had almost no trouble after the build. The only thing I couldn't do was sync them. This roadie is confounding me because I DO know how to clean a carb and unless I'm missing a jet, and lord it would have to be small and hidden well because I use a jewelers glass to look in and around it, theres no way this has a clogged anything. I know what the plug colors are telling me. I do know the typical symptoms of most situations. But this thing, this thing is showing dual opposing symptoms. Why is it acting rich and lean simultaneously? I was hoping was a R* thing. I must be missing something in the * specific layout or connections or even something hidden in the carb itself that isn't in every other carb. Like I said I even took my diaphragm into a black out closet and used a high power flashlight behind it to make sure there was ZERO pinlights coming through.

I was hoping this was a thing that has been experienced. That someone would say it"s common after a rebuild to find that the ______ is worn out and you need to replace that too to handle the clean new jetting. Or something like that. I have since my teen never been baffled by a carb. Frustrated getting it tuned in right sure, but flat stumped?

I have been dying to get on this bike and I'm lost as to what to do.

I did not read anywhere that you cleaned the fuel tank, internal petcock filter, external fuel filter and fuel line. If not, that could be an issue. Do you have a fuel pump, or did you remove it?
