That's it then! I'm doin' it!

I want to expose that motor, and get that filter in tight, so my leg isn't touching a breather box anymore!

Between that... a 31 tooth front pulley that came today, and hiding my control wiring in the bars, I've got my winter project all planned out!

Oh no... mine's jetted perfectly already.

I have a K&N in a modified box with big holes in the black plastic. I don't expect the air filter change will actually improve air flow intake any... this will be an appearance improvement.

Well, my filter arrived. Thank you Autozone. $42 and change.

I'm going to fabricate a mounting bracket, and either hide the idle adjuster, or snap it in the mount as per some other genius here.

Oh, and my K&N lettering is dead on straight! No need to cover it, unless I want to!

This is going to be a great Winter!!!

Has anybody else had any problems with this setup when riding in the rain.

I don't ride in the rain, but that hasn't kept me from getting wet!

K&N has covers for these.

Before I changed to the K&N filter, mine would die in the rain anyway... I think it was electrical.

Last August I rode from Fl. to NY in Tropical Storm Faye with no problems. I did 600 miles straight in moderate to heavy rain.
The only time I had a problem was when the bike was parked and a heavy downpour rolled in and rained for about 20 minutes. Even then it was just hard to start but after started ran well.

Yeah I gotta do this mod , it looks way better than stock . I guess the rain cover would work well if I had to use it. Thanks for your input everybody

It's relatively quick and easy... and looks great. I used a 2 hour parking sign in aluminum to make my mounting bracket, and attached the idle speed adjuster like someone else here did. I'm so happy with my work.

I've recently purchased stainless steel braided cable and hoses for throttle, clutch and brakes off of eBay... another worthwhile project to undertake!

Couple quick questions for you guys running this filter...

1. Does the K&N logo stick up from the lid or is it recessed?

2. What's the diameter of the inner ring on the chrome top plate?

Was just about to order a MaxAir filter, but like the looks of this as well and the price can't be beat. I just don't like the K&N logo so I'd like to know how easy it would be to cover with something else that's readily available (HD derby cover or points cover for example).
