If he's not decent at actual fabrication... he's going to be one very sorry fellow.

Anything can be stuffed in to anything if you have the ability. However this is not a smart idea for that engine in our frame. Go look at them side by side and do a few measurements.
. Of course I'd build a chopper if someone threw an engine at me! Easiest thing to do.

koal0313, If I had a 1900 sitting on the floor for free I might try and find a low cost frame for a roadstar and do a mockup. That way you aren't burning your bike if it don't work out. And you could do it at your own pace without sacrificing ride time. Worst case is you sell the free motor and recoup the cost on the other frame. Good luck, Littlebull.

If you have access to the 1900 frame, it may be easier to do some grafting...cutting out the areas of the 1900 frame where the motor attaches and splicing them into the Road Star frame. Even if the 1900 frame is damaged it might still be usable for this, and could save you a lot of engineering guesswork.

Remembering that you'll be working with dissimilar metals, so you'll have to use the aluminum alloy from the 1900 frame to make supports, or mounts, for the Roadstar frame. No welding the two together. Definitely not a beginner's task.

Like Takehikes said, a chopper would be the easiest way to stuff a 1900 into a Roadstar frame.
You'd first need to do an "up & out" frame stretch, then start fabbing mount points.
I think trying to massage a 1900 into a stock R* frame would result in too many compromises & a ton of 'almost made it' moments.

This fits in here, right? I mean, I can make this fit in here ... right?

Aggressive mod proposition. If you'd be cutting into your frame to make things fit that's where the risks go up. There are a lot of factors to consider that you probably don't have a way to analyze. Most good custom bike builders model it up and then stress analyze. If you can't do that you'll be guessing.

Plus splicing the two wiring harnesses together to make everything work right. That is why I said it would be a lot easier to do a big bore. But I like the idea of building a chopper with the 1900 also. Or you could sell all of the parts to pay for the big bore kit

Forgot about the aluminum frame on the 'Liners. That makes my proposition much more difficult. Still, there are other ways to stick things together besides welding. There are plenty of factory bikes that use steel and aluminum for frames and sub-frames.
