I'm kind of thinking about a cylinder type faucet handle where I could remove the black plastic handle and screw the handle on. the ball cover is pretty cheap though.

Here is a pic of my mount, the RAP unit is off the F6B or so I was told. It is screaming for a cool chrome cover though!
Jaybo here's where I mounted mine. I found it helped me to have it where my hand can get a grip on it and i can reach it comfortably from the seat. I welded a little angle bracket. Found a couple really cool chrome gismos for the know too.

May try to retrofit something like this over the rap handle secured with set screws. Chome oil and gas cap covers put in ebay pulls up a lot of different ones.

those BMW shocks do NOT work with the R*.
It's the only way to acquire a RAP these days , is to buy the pkg deal, use the RAP & hose only - WITH a Roadwing set up.

I'm not sure whythey don't work there's probably some clearance or length issue. I've not actually had a bmw shock in my garage to analyze it myself. My guess is the K1200 shock is maybe too long, not too short, because if it's too short that is not a show stopper at all.

The problem with trying to mount the BMW shocks on the R* is that the lower fitting is incompatible with the way the Yamaha rear suspension is made. Yamaha has a single bolt lower fitting similar to the top mount. BMW uses a fork-type lower mount. Now I have a question regarding the length of the RAP hose. I have a BMW shock for use of the RAP, and the hose is @ 6" long. I also acquired a stock-length Goldwing rear shock hose. I already know that the Goldwing hose will, if anything, be too long, but figure I can coil it up and stash it under a side cover. I am wondering just how long the hose needs to be (in other words-is the BMW hose long enough?)

The F6B line was fairly long so a little creative routing took up the slack. The cost of a steel braided line would be really low at that short of length, so there is always that.

So if I`m reading this thread right you can use a mechanical type RAP in place of the electrical one`s that come with most Goldwing to Roadwing conversions ? Correct ?

I have several hoses from BMW shock assemblies ... they range from 23" to 27" in length.
