My Bike was STOLEN! 2 Years, 8 Months ago
Yea, I just mentioned to my brother I was not riding it since I bought the concours, 65K miles of pure pleasure aside that struggle with the leaking manifold nightmare cured by HYLAMAR by Permatex. Next thing I know, like seconds later conference call from the bank and funds are transferred. WTF? I didn't even get a chance to strip all the Mods off! And it's got one of only TWO fully locking clutches in existence!

I moved on to that really Cool Venture RSV, got hooked on the need for Speed and the love of 4 cyl and a Radiator, bought a hitch, a camper and got hooked on motorcycle camping, Then rode with some Concours Owners and got hooked on 162 HP at the rear wheel, and when I saw this thing in the dealer with a 3 year warranty and owners even more happy that Road* owners I jumped.

After riding with the in line 4, adding $4K of Farkle, Towing with traction control and ABS, getting on the Roady was almost dangerous, First thing I would do was blow through a stop sign for the difference in brakes. LOL

I do mis the Comfort, the Seats, The sound, and everyone accusing me of being a Hardley Rider! LOL ONE thing I notice! I used to get waves from HD guys on the Roady! LOL Not one wave in 4K miles on the Concours. LOL The Concours is a Police bike and a tuned down version of the GTR 1400 5 with OD and you can actually hold 100 MPH in 2nd gear before the rev limit. Insanely fast, nimble, and when farkled up right, comfortable. (Heli Bars is the key with lowered pegs and a Saddleman seat)

So, I have not been on here much, but wanted to say its been great, I did not Crash and burn on the Darkside like everyone said I would.(About 45K miles Darkside 2 tires second one still going) My brother will be on here soon enough but after all I did to the bike from help here, I doubt there is much left to do. Reliability is stellar, I will mis having this bike there just to spin on. But I believe if you are not riding it often, you should let it go, Bikes need to move.

I have a shitload of extra parts and takes offs I will be listing sooner or later. try to sell it local first. Or to him LOL

i know exactly what you have been going through. I have busy learned the hard way that i need to take my time on the roadstar and not ride it like my concours. It's a totally different experience in just blessed to be able to afford 2 b8kes. I think a RSTD will be next after the Roadie

Yea a RSTD is a great bike, Can do a hitch on that too.

FULLY LOCKING CLUTCH. Well it is somewhat of a mystery, The story goes Ron wanted a fully locking clutch as we noticed at Highway speeds. (Ironman has experienced MY kind of Hwy speeds for 4 hours LOL ) Our clutches do not fully lock to the rotation of the motor, there is always some slip. No clutch work fully cures the problem.

SO He decided to go to the EFM Auto clutch because they stated that it does fully lock. He installed it and tinkered with it enough to figure out how it works and tune it in exactly how it was suppose to be. Trouble was, You could no longer just Rev the motor, (Have to pull clutch in and there was some lag) and mostly when you got on it and was braking down the was NO ENGINE BRAKING! The clutch disenguaged with lower RPM. Pretty much works like a Centrifugal Clutch on a Mini Bike.

So, you will be wearing out your brakes and reduce stopping ability. That ha;f a second from letting off the throttle to getting on the brakes makes all the difference.

So He decided to take it out, but upon adjusting it and dialing it in the instructions say you add Shims, they are washers, If you find the EFM auto Clutch directions and where they have you put that washer, You just need the exact right size washer and thickness to accomplish the fully locking clutch.

You just put the washer or washers in and press down on the clutch pack with side case off and you will know when it fully locks. If you go too far it will not disengage.

Upon putting it all back together you will have everything you had, BUT you will notice it will unforgivingly Stall if you do not pull the clutch in all the way, and at highways speeds RPMs MATCH the speed. In other works for every revolution of the motor you get one at the Jackshaft. No slip what so ever.

Increased MPG, Quieter running on the road, you will likely Never wear out another clutch.

I got Lucky, he was over my house and had an extra washer and put it on. MAGIC! I did not pay a whole lot of attention to the process I know it's in there, been in there for about 4 years and 40K miles. Burnett Clutch factory Plates.

He didn't want to disclose the how to, because when you do on a site, in come the Nay sayers. He didn't want to go through endless threads of people who claimed to know this and that. (Like to torching I took over running the Darkside) The EFM auto clutch guy no doubt knows more. Thats where he got it from. If I ever got another Roadstar that would be the first thing I would do to it. You have no idea how nice it is to ride with the clutch fully locked to the Motor one to one. NO SLIP!

I always meant to disclose this trick if I ever got back in there. But, LOL once you do that you just about erase any chance of you ever having to go back in there. The gasket is still on the wall waiting.

Well at least we know where it is at, and if he ever gets in there we can figure it out. Like I said, it goes in same location as the Washer shims on a EFM autoclutch for the Roadstar. You just use Reg Clutch with Burnett basket and I think Green springs. There was some rumors about springs, we contacted Burnett and got the RIGHT ones. That will also be noted if disassembled.
I'd like to know too. But like I said why go in there just to look.

The green springs are the Heavy duty springs, I put them in mine. I forget how much % they increase the pressure over the gold springs that come standard with the Barrnett clutch but it was enough to be worth the extra $20 for the springs.
