carrying extra fuel 3 Years ago
I have a real small tank so on some trips I haul along a quart size MSR fuel bottle full of gas. However i know some of you want more than that. I found these guys and they make some very cool stuff:

Multiple sizes but what is best is their mounting system (watch the video). Sure pricey but what a great way to haul fuel when you need to....safely. Be easy to mount to a rack and since its flat you could put your T-bag on top of it. Or mount it vertically on the sissy bar back or any number of other ways.

I get around 180 miles out of a tank. At 60mph thats 3 hours, time to stand up and stretch out anyway. No thanks I dont need to go any further then that.

I have been in some pretty dawg gone remote areas on a weekend where every fuel stop was closed. So I do see the need for one. As well as being able to help someone out. PLUS you can use it for testing range or determining how far you can go on reserve. things you need to know.

In late November I rode out to Virginia Beach, VA at about 2AM I fueled up on I95 and a dag gone near ran out on 64 trying to find an open gas station. It's a Beach area, in November almost nothing was open!

I am pretty much the same way. I am looking for gas the second the fuel light comes on. I think we have a one gallon reserve on that 5.3 gallon tank so that's about 150 or so mile. that's around 2-1/2 hours and a great time to get off and walk around.

Works perfect $30

That's what I have. You just never know what's going to happen. Haven't had to use mine for me but did use it on the turnpike in Oklahoma to help out a guy that didn't realize that if you see a gas station in the middle of nowhere you stop, there's probably a reason why its there. Open plains + crazy headwinds = mother nature saying "You get how many mpg?, yeah not anymore you don't." I do "change out" the gas in mine every once in a while just to keep it fresh.

I just pay attention to my fuel level and if I think I may get into an area at a bad time I just stop and get gas before I get into that situation. I also don't travel like some of you guys do that might need something like this. Even with an extra gallon you still have to stop to put it in the bike so now you have to stop twice. Once to put that gas in and then again in a few miles to fill both tanks again. But again I don't live or ride in any areas that there is a great distance between gas stations. BTW The only video I seen was about that stupid EPA nozzle on a gas can.

Thats about where I stopped when I went to Celina this past summer. Around 150 I was looking for a stop for gas and a stretch. I travel the backroads cruising around home but when on a long trip like that Im staying on the super slabs and you find gas pretty often unless you are in the middle of the country.
