Passing Lamp Visors - Different before 2010 !! 2 Years, 9 Months ago
I had a little problem on one of my passing lamp visors, looked in the 2010 Yamaha accessory catalog for the number and ordered a new set. STR-4NK58-20-00

Went to put them on and noticed they were different. They have two little tabs on them. I looked at the package and it said they were for the 2010 - 2014 bikes

I didn't realize they changed the passing lamps that much.
I can't look at the old ones now, but does anyone know if I can grind the tab off and work with these?

I know they were a pain in the @ass to install and get the bulb and visor straight. I also know I'm lucky they never moved.

I see someone selling these, but I don't remember the split being in there.

Edit: I think those are for the turn signals. Does anyone have the number for the pre-2010 visors? I keep coming up with the newer STR-4NK58-20-00 number.

I just put visors all around on my bike. Headlight, passing lamps, and turn signals. The headlight is straight forward, the passing lamps had the tabs like pictured and they were used that came on my used passing light bar that I just installed. The turn signal visors had the notch out like those pictured do.

OK, I did just figure out that is a turn signal visor in the second picture.

But, I don't remember my original visors having tabs, and they are labeled as fitting bikes made from 2010 and up.

I know the packaging was different too. The new ones came with a hard clear plastic cover. My old ones were shrink wrapped down. (Original packaging). I remember because I bought them as left over, and they were so old I couldn't get the wrap off them. Ended up scratching them trying to scrap it off.

Does anyone have the number for the pre-2010 visors? I keep coming up with the newer STR-4NK58-20-00 number.

Thanks

OK, maybe I'm nuts here. I looked at it quickly last night, and was hoping to order now.

The label was similar to this, but I swore I read 2010 - 2014, instead of the '99-'10.

I know this was the original packaging. They show the same part number. I guess if I squint hard enough I might be able to imagine the tabs there.

I'll have to look for real tonight.
Thanks

OK, I'm not nuts!

(Well, I was right about the differences in the passing lamp visors anyways...)

Here are two pics, the "old" style ones with the recess and the newer version with the tabs.

One might think, but no your not nuts!

Looking at the picture posted, if you cut the tabs off flush, it would match the other. So yes those are easily nodded.

Note, thin strip of carpet tape will quiet any rattle. I took mine off because they made noise.

I put a set of signal visors on the wifes bike last night and found a helpful tip . DONT unsrew the screws all the way out . Just so they are barley holding and then slip visor over top of lens and under chrome ring . Will snap into place and then just tighten them back down . I took mine all the way off when I did my bike and it was a pain in the ARSE trying to hold the parts together . JM2C !!!!!!

Nope, I looked at that first.

I know it looks like it in the picture, and it is close, but if you cut off the tabs they would not be the same. The location of the notches are different.
