Mid pegs 1 Year, 1 Month ago

Looking in to idea of adding set of foldable mid-pegs to the Roadie. On long rides it would be nice to now and then change position. I run forward controls and can move around a bit but it would be great to move my feet back now and then. I had same problem with the hated floorboards.
Anybody ever do this? I know I can figure it out but thought I'd check the knowledge base first before I blow some time on this.

I would like to see this if you do it. I put on the Strat floorboards 'cause they're longer and I can get my feet further back. Still, I like to be able to get my feet under me, or at least closer to it. Having your legs splayed out in front of you is taxing. Might look cool but looks ain't everything.

You can hook your heels to the passenger pegs as long as they haven't been converted to floorboards. Bonus: you get to feel like you're Batman.

I concur. Had the bright idea of setting my pegs on the Cobra fatty bars in such a way my legs are spread out as far as possible. My age is not in sync with my brain as I am sure I feel the sockets in my hips ready to pop out heh! No practical reason for this other than how it looks. Splayed out legs = pain. Get off the bike and waddle in the coffee shop like a duck in pain. I use to set the cymbals on my drum kit high to look cool. Managed to get a heaping dose of rotator cup damage, but looked cool during the process. Now the cymbals are low, as I do not have the endurance to be cool anymore.

If it is broke, fix it. If it is not, make it better!

Maybe you can hook your heels to the passenger pegs but not this 340 pound fat man.Striknein wrote:

I ain't 340 but no way I could get my feet up on to the passenger pegs. used to do it on my old Hondas but the seat/peg layout was much different.
I'm going to do some measuring this weekend, I have an idea that may work.

i have contemplated this myself.
the only way i can see of doing it is using sportster footpeg supports (as they have a curve on them to clear the primary and exhausts) and welding mounting blocks on the bottom rails of the frame drilled an tapped with the appropriate thread.
under normal circumstances you could leave them off, but if there was a long run it´s just 4 bolts to mount them and would take 10 mins.

When I mounted the sidecar recently, I used flat stock and two U bolts on one side, as a frame tie support for the lower rear sidecar mount. You could use two on each side and wider stock. I used a piece of 1/4 inch, but a piece of 3/8" would work for drilling and tapping holes, and you wouldn't have to weld to the frame. The U bolts are 5/16". This one is shoved as far back as I could get it. You could slip it forward a bit, and find the comfort zone.
