Re-Introduction 1 Year, 1 Month ago
Not new here , but have been away for what feels like a lifetime. I have a 99 R* . 9th one off the line, so an oldie but a goodie.
Plan on doing a little work over the next few months on the old girl and come to see what advice I can get. Im going to start pulling a trailer this summer, so a few things I need to be looking at. Rear suspension, Clutch and charging system.
Im going to surf the clinic to see what I can find, but if anyone wishes to give me some advice... Im more willing to listen to it than my ex was to listening to it from me. LOL

Looking forward to hearing from some on these topics.
Thanks all.

Welcome Back!!!! It sounds like you are on track with some of what you want to do. Upgrading the charging system to 05 -07 stator and rec/reg is a good start. Also consider new upgraded battery cables from the OEM 6ga to the larger 4ga cables. I can help you with that. I make and sell them for $45 a set. I see you are in Canada so I would have to charge a few $$ more to cover the additional shipping cost. Also for the rear suspension research Roadwing. It is a Honda Goldwing GL1800 rear shock modified to fit our bikes. Literally 100's of us here are using them. They have an adjustable hyd dampening on them to control the firmness of your ride. Contact Smokescreens and I'm sure he can help with that. Now for a clutch check out a Barrnett sr-2 clutch plate, again that is the most preferred and heavy duty clutch plate for our bikes and you can get the extra heavy duty tension springs to go with it. Contact Timb1007 and he can help you with that. Other than that just give the bike a good thorough maint and have a good summer of riding.

9th off the line, eh? That's pretty cool!

No doubt, you've had the trans recall done?

Did you go with the "racing" oil pump drive gear yet? The stock has a weak point, and some have broken... including my best friend's.

While replacing that clutch spring, take the clutch pack off, and remove the oil pump drive gear retainer, and have a look, if you're not sure... as that would be the ideal time to throw the new drive gear in.

Thanks Dave,
I did the cable upgrade years ago when I first got the bike. I also did the headlight relay to keep the headlight off until the engine started.

Thanks. Yes the trany recall was done at 52,000 klms. Just rolled over 100,000 this past summer. I heard the issue about the oil pump drive gear but have forgotten since it never caused me any issue. But you are right , A good time to check it out,. Thanks for the reminder.
