Just an update...I went ahead and installed the cleaned carb on my bike. Bike fired up and rev's nicely on the rack. I didn't get a chance to test ride it, but will do so in the morning. I had a bunch of work come in today so I didn't get a chance to work on it as long as I would like, but it sounds great. I won't know for sure until I get it on the black top, but the throttle response feels nice on the rack. I went ahead and installed the aftermarket needle on the 4th groove, I didn't have a 170 main but did find a 167.5 so I put it in there and the PMS is out 3 1/2 turns. Basically I went by Barons instructions (except for the 170 main they recommend) since I believe this is a Barons needle. I figured it would be a good starting point. It sounds too good to make any adjustments on the rack, but like I said the true test will be tomorrow. Oh I also drilled one large hole in my air box to closely mimic what dearp has. I was planning on doing a poor man's BAK anyway along with going pumpless so the timing on this was perfect. I opened my carb up for the first time and I was amazed to see what the previous owner had in it, but that is a subject for another thread. Here is a crappy video of the bike running with dearps carb and a couple rev's on the rack - please don't look at how dirty my bike is I haven't cleaned it up since I bought it. I have just been riding the sh!t out of it.

Got the carb on and everything hooked up. Without the enricher start the bike and it fires right up. Some black smoke but that could be from the seafoam or rich. Can't take it for a ride till wife gets home to watch the kiddos. Can't wait to ride and going to adjust the pms to see if i can get it right on.

Loving the sound of the new exhaust!

Tested the roadie last night and what a difference in many ways but still rich. Do not have to use enricher to cold start and plugs are very black sooted. Mr.Shamrock is probably right about needing to get a new enricher cable. So ordered the one from eBay that others have used for $25 since money is tight and looks like a good alternative. Loving the fact that there is no more popping or backfiring!

Question is where did you guys mount this if you are using the same cable from HSR 42?

Left side under the tank where the fuel pump bracket mounted I made an L shaped bracket for it.

Update time if anyone is still reading this thread:

Got my new enricher/choke this morning. Installed it with the pintle or what ever it's called with spring. Went to start without using the choke and would not start. Was excited that it wouldn't since naturally it shouldn't on a 60 degree day especially. After starting with the choke and all warmed up, I could hear the rpm change with the turn of the pms finally and the spark plugs are turning tan. With a few runs and tuning I believe it will be completely fixed now. Can finally stop messing with it the performance and love it!

In one way I'm glad that it made me dig into the carb with Mr.Shamrock since he found problems and fixed them, but on the other hand what a crazy turn of events that it was the enricher/choke. Causing it to be rich.

Thanks for all the help and support with my obsession to fix it

Congrats!

There's always a silver lining with these problems we have ... You know your bike even better now.
