I have those same pipes.... V&H Powershots. They won't drag, the way they kick up in the back. My bike is stock height and will stay that way. For some reason my kickstand drags waaaay before the floorboards on the left. No one else seems to have this problem. I have replaced the spring and the bushing, and the stand itself is not bent. I even had another RSC member look at it who is a pretty good wrench, but there's no helping it. I love the look of the lowered bikes, but I have to be able to ride it.

I have the Pacific Coast Star lowering Kit along with the Roadwing shock modification. Great look and the best ride you'll get on your bike.

Back when I was installing the Roadwing (at jd's suggestion) I utilized the progressive spring from PCS,and installed their lowering dogbones. Took the bike for a spin , and DID NOT like the way the lowering increased my turning arc before I started dragging parts. I took the dogbones off and did the flip. Took off much less than I expected, and have had little problem since then. When I installed the Roadwing, I didn't have a RAP, and, since I ride solo, really didn't think I'd need one. Experience (3 yrs. riding in this configuration) decided I needed to be able to adjust my preload. I now have the necessary parts, but not the time (Texas summer is TOO hot!, and I work nights), and have forgotten how I supported the bike while I was doing the change. I still have the dogbones, if anyone is interested. Shipping cost only-they're just taking up space.

I'll take 115 degree Arizona heat with no humidity any day over 105 in Texas with that God awful humidity. I grew up in that sauna they call Central Texas and I can't say I miss it.

Having lived in the deep south in Georgia and growing up in California I would take no humidity any day. But after years in Georgia somehow you kind of get used to it sort of like you get used to being blind in one eye. You only notice you have only one eye when you run into a curb because you have one eye and no depth perception.

I lived in Arizona for 18 years. Was in polyester driving a forklift in a warehouse on the infamous 122° day back in 1990 or whatever it was. I went the whole shift wetting my shirt down with water every 15 minutes. And because of how dry it was it kept me somewhat cool. Dew point has to be below 47° for evap coolers to do much of anything.
I did the roadwing conversion with the stock relay flip and have a manual rap. I've really liked it so far.

Thinking about attempting this tonight after dinner. Just curious if theres any "special" tools that I might need or basic wrenches etc be fine.
Also, after doing the mod will it change the placement of the rear tire in regards to drive belt tension? Will I have to adjust the tension after??
