My new to me R* has the saddlebag loops on the bike but no bags. looking for either used or maybe some cheap Cycle Gear Bilt ones? Thoughts, suggestions and insults welcome... No clue about any of it so pretend I'm kinda stupid.

First of all , for those who attack my posts, the following are my opinions, which everyone who has responded have been allowed to express. Besides, the man asked for insults, and I am only too happy to oblige.

If you are new to the RSC, you should create an introduction post first, if you have not done so already. I swear, you FNG's are all alike.

If you intend to travel / go camping / haul a bunch of shit, try a pick-up truck or a Winnabago. If you must use a motorcycle, you can learn the proper method of doing this simply by watching the movie, "EasyRider". The first thing that will jump out at you in the movie is the lack of fairings, saddlebags, tour packs, or trailers on the bikes. That's because these things were never meant to be on a motorcycle. They only serve to destroy the handling of the bike, putting you in danger. The nimble handling of a motorcycle is your main defense against cars. Take that away and you are left with pretty much nothing. Notice the motorcycle in the picture below. That's my bike. That's what they are supposed to look like, lean and mean with no bulky appendages attached here and there.

Note: If you are camping in Louisiana and you need a haircut, you might not make the Parish line.

You seem like a good guy. If you want us to pretend you are kinda stupid that's fine. Just don't do anything stupid. We might want to keep you around for awhile. And , BTW

Welcome to the forum and if you plan on doing traveling look for large hard bags you can fit more in them.

Everyone is different, have a 35' toy hauler for the take everything camping trips with the off road toys. Adding saddlebags to toss the extra helmet, jacket, tools and whatnot are not going to affect the handling one squat difference. I Don't plan on putting bricks in 'em...

Please do not judge everyone here by one or two malcontents and misfits, it is really embarrassing to be lumped into the same group with a small few. Most have gotten to where they just ignore those comment not deserving of a reply.

As for the bags, no matter what size bags you get, you will always find yourself picking up more than will fit into them while out on your bike.
