True Duel exhaust custom made (home made) question 1 Year, 7 Months ago
Have a quick question, witch I'm sure its been asked before, but I'm not finding it on the forum pages. Would love to have a set of true duel exhaust for my Roadstar. Problem is I'm unwilling to shell out 1200 1500 or more for new set up. And I really don't want to buy the tube that curves back twords the left side at the rear jug. So I was thinking about using the exhaust I already have (BUB Big Willies 2-1/4" and leaving the rear exhaust port (pipe) as it is running out the right side, and front exhaust port (pipe) like the Harley's do it and running it under the frame, doing some cutting and welding. So the big question is is 2-1/4" to big to run under the bike, and if possible where would be the best spot to run it under the bike and back out, Just before the swing arm, or some where further up the frame. Or should I just leave well enough alone. Thoughts?? Suggestions??? Thanks

$1200-1500...where are you shopping? You can get a full set of Bassani True Duals for under $750.

Hell, can buy Bassini headers from BubbaKahuna for about $420. Then can buy HD touring cans for about $80. Helluva lot less that $1200.

I may have read it wrong, but never the less I can make one for 1/4 the price still of 750.00 And my wife will never go for a new Bassani exhaust. I already had to rebuild the bile once after the accident, But I might be able to talk he into this rout. So the question still stands.

I have a set of headpipes that need a patch if you want them I'm asking $100 and shipping and then all you'll need is the mufflers. They are hacker duals.

Duct tape a short piece under your frame and see if it clears when you scrape your boards. Don't some manufacturers use oval or rectangular tubing under the frame?

Another option is to just buy the Basanni headers and two sets of stock mufflers. Take the symmetrical muffler from each set, slash cut them and attach them to your headers. There is a post somewhere here about doing that.
