I don't like brand bashing as I like all types of bikes, however it is a fine line between talking about dislikes of another brand and bashing.
I read that 80% of Indian buyers were former HD riders. (I hope to be one or these soon as well) I think that gives them a little more leeway to talk about the dislikes of HD's since they were actual owners vs the guys who bash HD's but have never even owned one, or base it off of the HD they owned back in the 70's.
I think that many of them have been fed up with what HD has turned into for years, but have been looking for something that would fit there needs.
That being said, I have never been on the FB page to read what they are saying.
I have been to this site a couple times to check out Indian inf http://www.indianmotorcycles.net/categories/indian-motorcycle-forum.4/

Doing some reading about Indian MC's. 120ci Big Bore kits available w/ stage 2 cams etc etc. Appears like the bikes are selling well. Indians are the buzz. Be a great bike to own.

Indian certainly makes beautiful bikes. I had a chance to try a Chieftain a few weeks ago. What a nice and smooth ride! Indian is the only non-metric bike I can imagine myself getting. Motorcycle show in TO in January will have a large Indian booth. I might walk outta there with an Indian order in my hand. Still deciding between a Chieftain or a Roadmaster.

I have a chance to get a 2014 Chief Classic. Going to ask for a test ride tomorrow. I have several friends that own Victories and dig the way the engineer the motors. Did not research the Indian power plant but if they put the same effort into the 111ci I may be interested. Depends on if I want to strap on a payment. I am on the fence as I own my bikes and thinking I should wait before taking on more dept.
I would sell my 2006 Road Star and keep the 2003.
How much more torque does the Indian have. For me torque is king, looks second.

New member on here lads, although I've owned many Metrics and H.D's over the years... I turned to Indian in 2014 and have one (Chief Vintage) of the few 'numbered' cycles that came across the pond in mmy stable. I've done a ton of work to it as it was bone stock when I bought it and I now have Stage II cams installed. I also lowered the back end 2" and fitted CFR 4" pipes...then I bought a set of (trike conversion) hard bags and had them sent over to me in the UK from a dealer in Charlotte (to buy hard bags with all the spools, eyebrows etc in the UK would have set me back nearly £4k)... I paid the Charlotte dealer a lot less as they were new, but take-offs. The bike was solid dark blue, but I wanted that 'Retro' look to it, so I had my painter transform it into what it is now, using Chevy Blue over Cream.
Anyway, the indian I have is a smooth ride with bags and bags of power & torque... Mines a keeper for sure, along with my new (s/h) Wildstar XV1600...
Ride safe

Before any of you sign up for that beautiful Indian you need to check the price to insure it. My buddy went from a Vic CC to a Indian Roadmaster. The difference in the Insurance premium was almost a deal breaker but he sucked it up and bought the Roadmaster. He loves it,says it is the best bike he has ever owned and he has owned a bunch of them. Mostly HD but not all..

I would think that to fully insure either a new or newer Indian or HD would be fairly expensive even with a good driving record. But if its something you really want then you learn to cut some other expenses elsewhere to ride a nice bike.

From what I've heard HD is 1 of the cheaper to insure when compared to bikes of equal value. I think it comes down to parts availability and replacement parts value. HD parts are easy to find and are reasonably priced when compared to other bikes parts like an Indian.

Don't you think that Indian parts will eventually come down too?davej wrote:
