Odo's Carb Float Adjustment - Have 1 Year, 11 Months ago
I have been reading through a lot of old posts while starting going pumpless today (and trying to figure out what all the parts I bought 2 years ago to do it are for ) I noticed on some recent posts it was mentioned That Odo's Carb Float Adjustment document was no longer available. I still have it saved but am not smart enough to post it on the forum with the pictures. If anyone can or wants to post it, PM me your email addy and I will email it to you so you can share it.

Now tell me why I have a new 37.5 pilot jet in that box with the Grizzly valve. I guess I need it. Is that all that I have to change besides the float level? Any educated guess on the rest of the jets appreciated. Bike 2001, K&N big air kit, Vance & Hines 2:1 pipes. . . . . Putting in A Pingel petcock at well . . . (because I have it)

Thanks, mike

Sounds like you were gonna get rid of the fuel pump. Only reason I can think of for the Grizzly valve.

install the 37.5 pilot along with making sure you have a 170 main jet needle clip 4th groove PMS at 2 1/4 - 2 1/2 turns out. The larger pilot will get rid of any off idle flat spot/stumble you may have and will also put you in a proper AFR in low to mid range riding.

Even using the Odo dry set method, double check using the Yamaha method, with the clear tube on the bowl drain. You want to be 4 to 5 mm above the bowl to carb matting surface, at the manifold side of carb, with the bike upright, not leaning over on the stand.

What they all said! While you are at it, get a 1700 ignition module. When you are done, it'll run ALMOST as good as my silver bike.

Was planning on cheking level with tube, just offering up the ODO since others said they could not find it. I have had this stuff for so long I just forgot what all I had bought to put in it. I already have a Dyna3K in this bike, JD.

I read, when going pumpless you should change the inlet needle on the float to a larger size, letting more fuel to flow into the bowl, because of the lower fuel pressure. True or false???

Ok then. The 170 is definitely the way to go then. A 167.5 works well with the lower rev limit, but it pulls 4th gear harder up top with the 170. Carry on!

I see your tired of the puke!

Additionally some remove the little screen at the fuel line inlet on the carb and some vent the cap (a few have drilled out the actual vent a little).
