Who is rocking a Shark Evoline 3 ST? 5 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Yeah yeah. Thinking about starting to wear a lid. Don't need to hear any stats or debate about going lidless. Thinking a modular would be a great fit for long range touring type riding. Still not sold on anything because I really like riding no helmet but maybe I'm getting older and wiser...maybe.

Last years Smokey Mountain fiasco- real helmets saved a lot of grief for several members here. I made my wife wear her full face SNELL helmet last year but I still just brought my novelty lid. I like her face the way it is. Come to think of it, I kinda like mine too

I bought one last year for the same concerns you're having.I'm moving to TN which is a helmet state anyway. I really like the ease of transitioning between full and open. Has a built in sun visor that flips up and down easily. They run a little small so if a L fits snug you might want too go to an XL. I stuck with a L and had some issues with it being uncomfortable for a while until I broke it in. Look around as I think I paid closer to $310-320

Ive ridden 3/4 helmet with goggles my whole riding life, pushing 50 years worth. Great compromise.
Old school but it works and well. Good enough for Steve McQueen good enough for me.

I figure if I'm gonna wear a lid, might as well have something to protect my ugly mug at the same time. Nice to be able to raise it up to take a drink or talk to the guy next to me at a light or whatever.

I grew up wearing full face helmets because I started on sportbikes and MI had a helmet law at the time so they don't bother me like they do some people. Besides I wear one when at the racetrack still. Would just wear my race helmet but the modular thing might be a really nice feature

Here is part of my take on it....full face is best for protection no doubt BUT it also insulates you from much of the joy of riding. A 1/2 hlemet makes you look like a mushroom (especially if its DOT) and the novelties make your head a novelty.
So I'm probably splitting hairs but 3/4 gives you a fair amount of protection while still giving you at least some of the enjoyment of the open air.
Oh and people can see my handsome self!

Definitely agree that the full face takes a bit away from the riding experience. Any helmet does IMO.

I have this helmet in flat black and the flat has chipped off in places. Looks maybe a gloss helmet clearcoated flat. I like mine but have no experience with any other helmets. This was the first one I have owned.

I like riding w/o a helmet but have started wearing one more for the wife's sake. Just as soon that she not have to spoon feed me and wipe my a$$ for me any sooner than absolutely necessary. If I would happen to be an a bad wreck, with her luck I would not die right away and be a burden to her for way too long of a time - any amount of time is too long. We both have 1/2 helmets and modular helmets. The half would do zero in a face plant but gives some semblance of protection though it is not much. To cover the jawline and face, I do like the modular. If you have allergies or an occasional cold like I do, it is real damn nice to be able to pop up the front and sneeze while going down the highway. Solid full face becomes just a face full so to speak. . .

just my opinion(s) . . . fwiw
