First Ride of the season with new toys 4 Years, 11 Months ago
Just road for 1 mile...... damn, it's cold. This morning I swapped out the 1600 EMC for a 1700 (from saab9k). The removal of the battery box tested my patience and managed to reduce my vocabulary to include many 4-letter expletives. I should mention that I am not mechanically inclined. So, 30 minutes to install the new ECM and went for a very cold, short but satisfying ride. BTW.... snow was falling as I pulled back into the driveway

Along with the new ECM is a new ED Seat and Backrest!! The ride was too short to properly access the seat comfort.... But the back rest is spectacular! I suspect the Seat comfort to exceed expectations too.

I was pleasantly surprised with the overall effect of the backrest. It added a kind of 'stick to it' feel, between me and the bike in the corners etc., that I hadn't been expecting.
I do pretty good, until a plan comes unraveled and I'm a hand short, then I try and make up the difference with vocabulary I don't think its helped so far, but I never seem to give up trying.

Every winter is long.... and the past several seem to drag on. What ever happened to that Global Warming thing? You might remember it, it was in all the papers a few years ago.... I keep waiting, hoping to avoid the expense of moving south...

I knew I needed to walk away from removing the battery box when my mind drifted to consider the ancestry of the person who designed the intricacies of the 10lb of S*** in the 5lb bag space.

i haven't upgraded to the E.D. seat yet, but plan on it when budget allows, but the backrest i added to the stock seat was the best money ive spent on any bike ive owned. never used one till my roadie. my cousin rides a road king and last summer we rode together, right before i bought the road star, i had a suzuki blvd 800cc at the time. he has a backrest and was saying how much he liked it. it makes a huge difference for me as far as comfort. i put one on my wife's vstar 650 and she loves it too.

I bought the ED Driver seat and the solo backrest. At the same time. My ride was short but did adjust the backrest part way through the ride. I do like the adjustability of it. I suspect it will make longer rides more enjoyable. I don't have much experience to draw from, but the seat and the backrest appear to be well made. If/when the temperature warms, I will give a more complete assessment of the seat as compared to the stock seat.

A long winter.... made it difficult to park the bike after a short ride..... can't wait!

Backrest = million bucks. Can't believe I ever rode this thing without it.
