We are talking about an 800# motorcycle, not a 3 ton dually pick up. I still don't think the end justified the means. It was late night not middle of the day. If the biker did collide with a car, the cop was so close he would of been in the wreck also.

Not understanding your logic, but if you don't think a motorcycle can do some real damage to a car full of innocent travelers, take a look.

Re:This was just wrong 10 Months ago
EXACTLY!

There was no upside to a high speed chase against a bike and instead of a bike going to fast you have a cop going to fast and going through traffic lights at greater risk to the public than if he had just let him go and either took the plate info and followed up, asked for assistance of other officers in the other direction they were headed to, etc. Yes, the guy lived and died by the sword, and perhaps it is in the end a good solution to a bad person, but it is STILL WRONG.

The cop is not the judge, Jury OR the executioner.

I recently had to call our county Sheriff to complain about one of his deputies driving through town, no lights or sirens right after school, with kids walking on the sidewalks, of at least double the 30mph limit. He couldn't tell me what the call was about then, but said he would look into it. He called me back a day or 2 later and thanked me for my call, and that the incident did not call for that speed in town, and that the deputy had been reminded of the proper procedures.

By not yielding to the lights and sirens, the guy on the bike saved the locals a butt load of money in cost to house and prosecute him. I think he did the right thing. He's a selfless and compassionate individual.

The officer on the other hand may have just ruined his career, because somebody was to cool for school.

When there is such a contrast of emotions and opinions, I find myself sometimes wavering between both viewpoints. It helps me sometimes putting a family member in the position of (this case the biker) and it helps me see things more clearly.
