It was a good read!

I frost bite my nose in the winter. A flapper cap helps your ears but does not provide crash protection. Good thing there is no wintertime helmet law.
I stop when then pain gets too bad in my nose. The pain goes away and I keep riding.
You get that in Florida BillieG?

In most cases you couldn't carry my jock. So knock it off and just ride and quite trying to be something you ain't. Nobody cares except....other posers!

I would like to apologize to you for my confrontational reply to your above post. It rubbed my the wrong way for some reason. Might just be grumpy.

I just get weary of the us vs them thing or them vs us.

No judgements ...

I too was somewhat offended but not enough to post. We're all working our way through this life, everyone in their own way. I've met many insecure people along the way and most have been people you wouldn't think were by the image and possessions they hide behind.

I've been to many a bike-week. I still believe if you want a great conversation, ask the most burly old guy about his bike and his travels. I avoid the younger good-looking couple all dressed in the right gear, both looking mean. Funny thing is though, walk up to them and chat - it's only a facade as they're rather happy to talk as well. Just hiding.

Me - I wear all the wrong clothes, and I don't have an image (well other than wearing all the wrong clothes). I probably do it as much for non-conforming to the non-conformists, as for fear of not having the "right" clothes.

What is a 2%? Like skim milk? Did you mean a !%'er?

I was curious too, so I did what all curious peolpe do and Googled it... at least now I know what a 2%er is... but I think if I told one he wasn't a biker, he might slap me on the back and give me a donut and a bible...

That's pretty cool - thanks for sharing!

In my humble opinion there are wannabe bikers, bikers, outlaw bikers and enthusiast. I've been riding 51 years now and once was in a 1% club. It doesn't matter what cloths you wear or what you ride. It's a whole attitude thing.

When someone says "I'm not going to ride today because it might rain, it's too chilly, it's too hot, the wife wants to go shopping etc then you are an enthusiast. If you don't ride every chance you can because you are afraid and haven't learned how to control your bike you are a wannabe biker.

If you wear and earned a 3 piece patch then you are an outlaw biker. Everything else in between is a biker. The "bikers" I know have been there, done that and got the T-shirt. They don't need an excuse to ride and will ride 300 miles just to get out of the house in almost any kind of weather. When you become a true "biker" you won't have to ask, you will know...

I would rather ride then eat... lol
I just tipped my odo at 13.8k miles and I have had this R* for a year and a week.
Weather doesn't keep me from riding, however I do prefer to ride when it isn't snowing, it is kind of difficult to wipe snow flakes off my eyelashes so I can see (don't ask me how I know)

Toby has had his Stryker for 3 and a half years and has 38k miles on it...
I Have ridden behind the controls of a bike for all of those miles as well, since the reason he got the stryker was because I swiped his v star 950 lol

I dare anyone to call me anything, except late for dinner, which I am guilty of being now and again.

It isn't what you ride, how long you have been riding, or how you dress.

Simply ride and enjoy yourself and don't worry about labels. Be who you are, and who you are will shine through.

My family calls me a biker, but to them, anyone who rides a motorcycle is a biker, with no negative connotations insinuated.

Be true to yourself, be true to your friends, and be true to the wider brother and sisterhood of those who ride. Above all, be happy!
