Appreciate the help guys I honestly have had no issue with this roadstar in the 5 years I've owned it so don't really know a lot of mechanical about it if it was one of my many sohc 750s I would know it inside and out

Throughout the whole rpm range, or just at the top end before you shift?

Any vacuum or exhaust leaks?

Just chased vacuum lines they are good so pulled the plugs and they are black with carbon I've trimmed the choke rubber down before so I don't feel like that's the issue

What about where the intake manifold attaches to the heads? That's a notorious place for Roadies to leak air. Especially as they age, and people are removing and replacing the carb. If its never been off the bike, it would be worth it, just to surface the flanges, and reseal it. Although Yamaha simply uses grease to seal the flanges(so they can move a bit as their being tightened), many of us have gone to Hylomar, or the Permatex Permashield on the edges of the flanges outside of the orings.

You can check for exhaust leaks at the heads, with an incense stick or a lit cig. If there is a leak there somewhere, the ember will glow with the air blowing on it.

Make sure the idle is set to about 900rpms, also. Do it when the bike is hot after a ride, and then leave it be.

I checked the manifold before we came it has cracked but no leaks yet that the winter project to change that out can't hear any exhaust leak I'm going to try one heat range hotter on the plugs and go from there

everyone says get rid of the hypercharger but honestly at this point it acts as a open air cleaner if i put a big air kit it would yes let more air in and lean it out but thats more money to spend that i shouldnt have to shouldnt be this hard to jet this damn thing

I hope someone in a similar high elevation and mods situation can shed some light on this rich issue. I went back over our PM conversations and I'm baffled on this one. If you will post your exact current jetting and needle clip setting maybe someone can add some good advice.
