Cold Weather Riding 9 Years ago
Just went on a short ride 1st of the new year it is all of 37 degrees just a bit nippy but the bike just screams. Idles great super acceleration only if we could get them to run like this when it is 95 deg. What is the best thing you can do to help when it is hot?

When it's hot, you want to avoid stopping (idling) for any period of time. Keep air moving over the jugs, park in the shade when you get gas, let it cool 10 minutes or more if you can when you stop. Do not try to cool with water, you could crack a head.

It got into the mid 40's in michigan today, And I got to take my FIRST EVER ride on my new rodie. All I can say is WOW!!!! I've had alot of differant bikes in the last 35 yr's and without a second thought this one beats them all.I went out to the garage early this morning to mess with the bike a little and take a look at the mufflers (been thinking about going stage 1) started it, Listened to the stock exhaust for a minute,And the tools come out. Next thing I knew stage one was done. Sounded great!!! All that was left was to get aquainted with my new RS . Hence the ride, Only about 10 Mi's but it was enough to know we are gonna spend alot of quality time together this summer.

Well guys you have just started on a LONG journey! The best is yet to come. RoadieSL mine runs just fine even when it is 105 degrees out. Just get it dialed in and have everything you want on it when you do then all you should have to do for summer is tweak the PMS a little.

Re:Cold Weather Riding 9 Years ago
Well, it hit 75 here at my place this afternoon. Looks like it's going to drop down into the sixties for the rest of the week, then bust 70 again next weekend. I'm going to have to get some road time in.

On the temp thing - I haven't really noticed any difference in how the bike runs in summer and winter (although I don't ride much when it drops below 50). The seat sure gets a lot hotter in summer, though.

Glad you 2 guys got some riding in today. Temp here in the Carolinas was about 58 & the wife & I got in a few miles. Honestly, mine seems to run better when it's above 70. Seems a little sluggish when it's cold. Enjoyed the ride though. See Dave, I told ya' all it needed was ridin'.

Re:Cold Weather Riding 9 Years ago
Happy with stage 1 also.I could tell that it was breathing like it should.
Can anyone tell me what symptom it will have if it needs a PMS adjustment? It seemed to be fine after the mod (stage 1) but if it will run better I'm all for that.
Instead of drilling 8 holes I drilled at 1&3 took out the material between them with a small die grinder, Again at 5&7 took out material, then drilled 9&11 and did the same leaving 3 tabs securing the center tube it is wide open with no chance of air flutter a little BBQ paint and good to go.
