I just purchased an 01 Roadie, that is right at the 16000 mile mark, if I remember correctly in the owners manual, the 16,000 mark has a variety of things to check on.
I'll be tackling those, and I'm open to any other suggestions that folks have.
I've changed the oil to Mobile One V-Twin, and a K&N oil filter.
I've changed the stock air filter in the stock air box, out for a K&N as well. One of the PO's(only two I'm pretty sure) disconnected the crankcase vent from the box already. It'd been nice, if they'd of plugged the hole in the airbox as well. God only knows how long that's been breathing freely.
I'll get to the gear lube change in the next few weeks....anybody have a favorite they want to recommend? The V&H's are going to make getting to it interesting.

The bike seems to of had the tranny recall done. The PO said it was done, and there is a punch mark by the ID#.
I've read on here about the possibility of a bolt coming loose on the front belt drive sprocket(early Road Stars). I have a Clymer manual coming, and hope to make whatever upgrades to this that are needed. Any fixes, suggestions or pointers, are appreciated. Part numbers?
The other thing I noticed, was something about the shaft on one of the oil pump gears breaking. How difficult a job is this to rectify before it becomes an issue?

The frame still looks good where the shock mounts to it. Wire brushed it a bit, and shot some Hammerite paint on it. Seems to catch all of the road debris kicked up by the front tire.

Last but not least. The neutral light just started to want to work overtime(like, all the time when the key is on), and the side stand kill switch quit working. Is this just a side stand kill switch issue? Finding neutral and pulling in the clutch isn't really a problem when starting, but I would like to fix it. Anybody else had to deal with this?

As far as the pulley nut loosening, I think its a problem with ALL model years. I know mine loosened up last summer and I ended up replacing the belt, pulley and jackshaft. It's something that I'll check with every service from now on....

I have a 2000 R* Silverado and have approx. 45000 miles ,not kilometers and haven't had any (knock on wood) mechanica issues so far, Runs good and strong !

There is......red Loctite. Works for me anyhow

I'm hoping I can say the same in a few years. The motor on this bike seems sound on the outside. Wasn't really any signs that somebody had been making improvements. I'm hoping to avoid anything other then just the routine maintenance once I get the AIS removed, and the carb tuned up a bit.

Guess I missed it by 126k miles. oh well, maybe I should change the stock belt too. lol

This is the kind of input that I like. It instills confidence in the product. I'm all for preventive maintenance, but there's no sense in going over board.

I think its mostly plugs and fluids. I'll have to look again.

2003 Silverado with 45,000 miles. I check my pulley nut every time I change a rear tire,and change fork fluid with every front tire. Get some gaskets and pull your V&H pipes at the heads if you have to in order to do the final drive. It is easier than getting the middle joint back together. Install exhaust nuts with milk of magnesia on the threads. Acts as anti-sieze, and excess washes right off. Run the bike up to operating temp, let it cool, then re-tighten the exhaust stud nuts if you take them loose. some here, (me included) have lost one of those boogers.

It would be hard for anyone to have done any real damage to that bike in 16000 miles without it being pretty obvious.
