I cut the coil pack brackets off. Can I just plug them in to the harness and leave them hanging?

Cool, ill have to checkout the vid when i get home. Sounds like you're running rich, if you're getting black smoke. You'll need to tune the carb when you get it all back together. Bike needs to be ridden at least 15 mins to get up to full operating temp to dial in the carb.

Update: Got home and watched… .Wow…. Poor little camera mic couldn't handle it! That was loud! Did you have the baffles in?

So i have been thinking about my tail light which is a titmouse like this and I think i want to make a brace similar to this but my bike wont have a rear fender.... so it will be just the round bar brace wrapped up over the bare rear tire with a tail light on top of it.... I think it will look pretty cool. and also help even out the back of the bike...

Don't know if you've seen my thread on those baffles, but try playing with them and see how you like the sound and throttle response. Pinch the leading end closed, and widen the mesh near the ring. Right now, I have leading end opened just enough to stick a flat head screwdriver in and the ring end has about a quarter inch gap. With all those holes in the screen, you don't really have to worry about limiting airflow too much.

Thanks for the tip man... I almost might need to buy some more restrictive baffles because these pipes are pretty short and damn loud lol. I am just going to cut them a little shorter to avoid them getting damaged from the road and leave these baffles in for now. Once spring comes I can decide what I am going to do with the baffles and a turn out idea on the end of the pipe.

No, it'll run rich, until it warms up. You only aggravate the issue by twisting the throttle on the cold motor, right when you start it. If you twist the throttle like that on the cold start when the enricher is doing it's thing, it breaks the vacuum, and starves for fuel.
Turn fuel on at the petcock.
Enricher full on.
Twist the throttle a couple of times to prime the throat, and then ...........don't touch the throttle again.
Push the start button.
If idle is set right for 900rpms on a hot motor, it should fire off, and start a high fast idle...don't touch the throttle.
After about 10 to 30 seconds depending on temps, it'll start a lumpy rich idle. Just push the enricher in halfway...don't touch the throttle.
After the bike has warmed up for a few minutes, or until you don't have to baby the throttle to much(determined by temp, you are the adjustable enricher by how far in and out you have the knob), you can ride off. Some leave the enricher out about halfway until they get on the road, and then close it.

Until it warms up good, and the enricher is off, it'll run rich, and a bit funky.

Yea i know revving a cold motor isn't the greatest but i couldn't help it after installing the pipes and i haven't heard her run in a while lol

It's not so much the revving on a cold motor, but the way the enricher works. It depends on the proper idle setting, so it has vacuum to pull fuel through the enricher circuit. When you open the throttle, the vacuum drops, and the extra fuel the bike wants, stops as well. It'll make the bike cough and sputter, as it goes from being rich, lean, rich, lean, and the accel pump is squirting everytime you do that as well, and it just exacerbates the whole thing.
Even when all is well, you can make it cough, by blipping the throttle. The nature of the beast. It helps when the idle is set correctly, and the carb is tuned(which yours should be pretty close to being just dandy, it was just cold.
