First of all, I don't want to start a war here.
I've read a lot of threads about the pros and cons, and in the end it's a personel decision to all riders.
So here goes; Those who have gone with the Austone, have you installed them yourself?
In the last 30 years I've always changed my MC tires myself. But this one being a car tire, I'm wondering if the job has to be done with special equipment or a tire machine?
I'm using these tools for my MC tire change.

Those will probably work okay. The problem with a car tire is that a car rim is slightly smaller than a motorcycle rim. Also a car tire bead will not fit properly in a motorcycle rim bead area. I have read of excessively high pressures being used to get the car tire to seat. Maybe because not enough lube was used, I don't know. Just be careful.

I have ridden on Austones on two R*s for about 70,000 miles or so, and I have had no negative problems in any respect. I like that they seem to have better tread grip than mc tires as they have many more ridges, they have softer rubber and I only run them with 32# for best even wear (about 24,000 miles) and softer ride.

I have found all mc dealers will not change out for a car tire on an mc rim. You need to have a shop lined up before you switch over. The one that I use now has a waiver that I gladly sign. To my knowledge they have never had a problem after mounting. Whenever I've asked about any problems mounting, no shop has ever expressed any difficulty. I don't know what pressures they've used, but when I've watched, they just use a regular air hose and wiggle the tire around somewhat to get it to seat if it's running tubeless. If it's one that has a tube (I have spokes) then it's easy to fill with the tube.

I have never had any leaks around the rim with a car tire, although several of my spoke seals have leaked, so I don't lose any air. Having followed darksiding for some years, I have yet to ever hear of any problems with leaking sidewalls, tires coming off rims, losing traction, or anything else. Some have noticed the tendency of some tires to have a slightly different feel on the tendency to want to track straight and slightly more resistance to leaning--but after a few miles with them, that becomes unnoticeable. I have not tried to remove/install a tire myself except once and then I couldn't get the bead broken so I took it to a shop. I think that was with a mc tire. Of course their equipment is a commercial type.

I usually remove the wheel and take it in so my cost is about $25. plus Ride_On if I have them do it.
