Kickstand extention 5 Months ago
Since I put duals on I have a hard time getting to my kickstand. Most of the time I have to bend down and get it with my hand. What are you guys using for extentions?

I had quite a surprise after giving my duals a test ride, came back and couldn't drop the kickstand.

The only thing I found was a Kuryakyn unit, and it is junk. The extension is flimsy and bends before the kickstand comes down.
I ended up letting it bend, and then wrapping it around the kickstand half a turn. Looks terrible but the only option I found.

Comes down easing using my heel as long as my boots have tread. If not, just screw a small bolt into the end to provide a lip.

I have had some results by putting a short piece of rubber hose over the bump stop. It will extend the resting kickstand a little farther out. Also, if you keep the kickstand oiled, it will come down easier.

I never had a issue if i used my heel but the varrons lowered kickstand was a pain in the arse!

If you wouldnt mind a black side stand or paying for a rechrome you could weld on a tab to the foot or stem.

OK, so it sucks without photos, but here is a google photo link to show what I did on my 02 with a painted sidestand (everythings apart for repaint...again ) https://photos.app.goo.gl/qvm9ffPHKCSTop4z2 The rubber (baby buggy) bumper is the same one used on the frame for the side stand. 5/16 round and a 5/16 hole drilled through the sidestand, then chamfered the hole in the bottom side and welded in the pin. It was all done with basic tools. If you had access to machine tools, would be a breeze to make with tighter tolerances and press fit it in.

Got the Kuryakyn extension also and as MidwestMike said it is junk!!!!! Been thinking about a solution this week. Plan to try skate board tape to add some grip. My boot heel just slips off most of the time. If the tape doesnot work may try the HotRodStar approach and break out drill or welder.

The easy way I have seen was from Mr. Tidy links now long gone. He replaced #28 with a longer bolt to hold the arm away from the frame more, then ground the hex head of the bolt to accept the rubber cap.3 nuts to bolt and lock it to the frame.PS: You might have to tap it with a hammer to bend it to line up the bumper after its all bolted in.

Thanks for the advice I got home late from work tonight so I couldn't try any of them. I'll try some thing tomorrow. Like shores said my boots with aggressive tread isn't a problem but my Steel toed boots I wear to work suck to hook it

Mine setup is little more unique.

I believe I'm the only one on hear at this point with Hacker duals.
They route a little differently.
